It's funny, because I went in thinking I'd really like it and then on my first play I thought it was totally boring. It wasn't until my girlfriend and I played it on Sunday (and kept saying "one more game") that I saw it's value. The scoring system is excellent for competitive play and I think it's just easy enough where newbies can put up some decent scores and have fun. I'd steer clear if you're solo, but if you have a group of friends/family that play frequently it's definitely worthwhile.
