Thanks to fellow KLOVian gregr I am now the happy owner of Marble Madness for my System 1 cabinet.

It even came with some extra bearings/whatnot for the trackballs. Nice! The game works great!

Now to decide if the other three System 1 games are worth the investment. Having played Peter Packrat on MAME I certainly wouldn't mind a PPR kit... but what about Road Runner and Road Blaster? I've not played either of those games (well, I remember playing Road Runner once when I was a kid and hating it, but the stick was broken).

Opinions?

Nice pick up- looks to be in amazing shape. I remember Road Runner being hard as shit BITD.

BTW... when did Atari stop having the Volcano buttons blink during attract? I sort of miss the blinking.

Are you sure they're not burnt out? My Space Duel came with two burnt out LEDs, and when I fixed them, they didn't light up until I put a quarter in. One button is for select, and the other is for start - 2-player options aren't available until another quarter is inserted.

Not burned out... they light up when playing 1 or 2 player games.

:)

I remember Road Blasters being fun. It's probably the System 1 game i saw the most in the wild.

road blasters is fun and should be cheap since there are so many out there. Can probably score a road blasters kit for the cost of shipping.

IMO...

Marble Madness is the most sought after and desireable system1 game. Great, unique game which builds skills up.

Roadblasters seems to be the most common one found out there. Fun game, basically a good cross between Spy Hunter and Pole Position. Well worth the low asking prices I've seen them for.

Nice score, how about an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom kit? I used to own the game and regret selling it. It was pretty cool, and especially if used as conversion it would be nice to have. I still have a joystick and buttons and harness connecting the two if you come up with a control panel.

Indiana Jones is in a category of it's own for system1 stuff. I wouldn't say its the greatest game in the world, but the fact that your running around as Indy whipping the shit outta stuff while hearing the theme music is brilliant!

Wouldn't mind having a chance to play a real Marble Maddness machine someday. I used to like playing the NES version back in the day, but I never could beat it.

I hate you.... For real though... I am super in need of a MM! My wife might actually kill me for one. Marbles or Frogs whats with women?

I already have the Indy kit...

I may pick up a Road Blaster kit some day... the gameplay looks interesting enough. I can't believe i've never played it before.

MM

Jon,

Glad everything turned out fine, looks good. I have all the other other system 1 kits, I really like Peter Pack Rat and Road Runner. I know alot people find them to be a little corny but once you see the coyote chasing you on rocket skate or the helicopter pack it just makes you laugh.

Once you get a chance you should change the bearing out on the track balls, the new bearings are sealed, the originals are not and were a little rusty. If I remember the red ball seemed to be a bit noisy.

Thanks
Greg

I believe the pedal mounts OUTSIDE the cab... but the 2 bold holes are there....

The first MM cabs didn't have any holes for the pedal, but after RB was released all the Sys1 cabs had the holes drilled at the factory. At least, that's the story I have heard. In any case, the holes are in just about every Sys1 I have ever seen. The pedal does mount to the outside of the cab.

An RB is a great game, well worth the price. Has anyone ever repro'd the T-shirts? Would be cool to have one on the wall next to the cab.
