I recently found out Aliens vs Predator was released for SNES but some reviews online say it's nowhere near as good as the coin-op version. I played the coin-op tons of times back in the day, will I disappointed with the SNES version? Or is it a decent home port like Final Fight? (I realize Final Fight's limitation was it could only be single player, all the booze references were removed, and Poison and Roxy were replaced with dudes)

How do you folks like the SNES version of AvP?

I remember playing it back in the day, in fact I did a page in EGM about the game in the '90s before it came out. I remember it being a major knock-off of Final Fight. Not bad, but very, very repetitive. It's okay-to-decent for a brawler.

Note: This is all from memory, so my view may change if I play it again. :)

It's not the same game. I don't know about release dates and all, but I almost want to say that AVP for SNES was first? I could totally be wrong about that.

But no, it's not the same game. Same TYPE of game, (final fight brawler) but there aren't special moves or the human characters (IIRC) like in the CoinOP. I never should have sold that arcade board. Such a great game.

EDIT: Looks like I was right. The SNES version was first, from Activision in 1993. Capcom's arcade version was in 1994.

I had my parents buy me the Snes version thinking they were the same. Not even close although you fight gorilla aliens its very weak sauce.

night and day

snes is extremely repetitive and i think 1 player also, like final fight on snes..I remember feeling like I was only playing through it to not have to go back to it and play again
