Never seen one of these in the states. Found this in an arcade in Chonburi, Thailand. Anyone seen this before? I was going to record some gameplay, but the guns weren't registering on the screen. You'd see the trigger flash, but nothing would register as being hit. "This is BOGUS MAN!"

There was also a "push button "Guitar Hero" next to it. Seen the one that look just like this before, but it had actual game guitars. It, of course, couldn't be played either as it had no working monitor. Never seen one like this...

Dave and Buster has them. It's a quarter muncher. I really don't like the guns on a swivel it takes away from the game.

There is one at the theater I took my soon to be step-sons to last night. $1.00 per play and they had no clue what they were doing so it lasted about 45 seconds. Then they wondered why I would let them play again.

I played it at an arcade auction once an it is a joy to behold. I will say this, its probably the best shooting game ever built. That being said, its not my favorite shooter. That goes to Zombie Raid. But it uses like 3 weapons. Your gun has recoil, IIRC, flamethrower, grenade launcher (but not at the same time IIRC), and the machine gun as the basic rifle. It encompasses every weapon on the move. But I can't imagine it would cost more money for actually space marines to defeat aliens on another planet than it would to beat that game.

the problem about Aliens Extermination is display. it's 4/3 basis on some CRT setups ! and the screen is stretched to match 16/9 setups. that is stupid :(. and it's very bad when the arcade is behind reflections of sun, it becomes harder to see what's going on :(.

Well, what was weird about this was that the trigger would flash the screen, along with the grenades, and the flamethrower, but nothing would register any damage on the enemies. I thought it might have been an issue with the LCD not being able to register the photocell on the gun, but the barrels are covered over. Not a traditional light gun setup. I just let it eat my dollar and left.

At the CEC I used to work at, we had one. It was a deluxe cabinet with a 36" plasma (I think). Not a bad game. But definitely hard to see in the sunlight.

Chiming in to add that there is one at the one of the Alien's at a Regal theater here in Salem Oregon. Never played it though.

That GH cabinet is nuts. I don't think I would like playing it with buttons. It's Guitar Hero... not Aircraft Carrier CP Hero.

Game is still pretty pricey after five years. I think these still sell for $3-$4k, and up. Given the theme it might be years before they get much cheaper. I've seen this at auction maybe once or twice but I don't exactly recall what it went for - maybe $3k and it had some gun issues.

Not sure what kind of difficulty settings it has but every one I've ever played was a credit eater. This would be a good game to play at one of those one price for the entire day deals at Dreamworks or 1/2 price day at Dave and Busters. I'd like to go through the entire game once just to see what it was like. I never made it very far because it just ate up too many credits.

Deluxe version would be the one to own.

We have one, the deluxe version with the plasma (well, could be an LCD) screen. (NOT the one in the pic -- that's some kind of messed-up conversion. The REAL deluxe dedicab has a larger screen than that in a flat metal box with blue mood lighting on the back.) IMO, it's a terrible game. By default, it scales the amount of damage done to you by how long it's been since the last credit -- so each credit is forced to last a fixed amount of time, regardless of your skill. This time is adjustable in the operator menu, but if you turn it off completely, the game becomes so hard most people die within the first six seconds.

So it's punishingly difficult, or downright unfair -- operator's choice, and those are the only choices. It's expensive because it attracts non-gamers that like the theme, so in an FEC environment, it earns pretty well. Expect it to tank HARD in an actual arcade though -- people with any semblance of skill will catch on quick.

I did a post here about it a few years ago when I fixed the guns on one here in Austin. The cabling was made a little too tight inside the gun and was causing stress that would cause the x/y to not register properly. After I fixed it and e-mailed them about it, they came out with a service bulletin listing the same approach I used...

Here's the product page for it in a deluxe fashion (42" widescreen)

They have reused this cabinet for many games including Justice League and most recently another fixed gun game Frightfearland (which is sort of in the same category as Carnevil)

They had/have one here in town at Chuck E Cheese. I once got to play for around 15 minutes because it was only one token per continue. It was really fun.
