Aladdin's Castle Neon Sign

Woo hoo! Make it happen! I'm in for one of these for sure. I have lots of fond memories playing at the Aladdin's Castle in White Oaks Mall in Springfield, IL. So I need one of these... ;)

Bob,

I'll reach out to you via PM and we'll talk and see if we can make this and a couple other Neon ideas I have make happen.

Thanks,
Mike

unfortunately there doesnt appear to be enough interest here anyway

used to bend glass for my neon plant for 16 years fixing broken and creating new signs for people

very difficult to make money

at the local grandview arcade auction 4 times a year, the first 45 minutes is dedicated to selling all sorts of neon signs. majority sell for 125 - 175 dollars and i think he buys them in Mexico and drives them up here for auction. many dont sell. cant imagine a stateside plant being able to make much money with those prices. nice window transformers alone sell for 80 bucks. thats A LOT of work for 70 dollars and you wont make even that

i think you'd be better off selling chopsticks to asian countries

Well I could always go the LED route with a sign. Would be able to do a lot more special effects with the LED's. Still wouldn't be anywhere near as cool as real neon though.

Yeah Neon is an artform, I don't think most people understand the effort that goes into making it. It's a multistage process with specialized equipment, plus it's dangerous on top of all that. Even just simple lettering is pretty complicated.

Money

It is not my intention to make money off this sign. My goal is to make maybe 2 or 3 for obviously myself, being a sign maker as well as sign/advertisement collector, as well as a couple of forum members who want one. As to making money in our trade in general, it has slowed down a bit. But, luckily we are in a metropolitan market (west palm beach/fort lauderdale/miami) and our many commercial accounts keep us busy. Check out some signs I made as well as have collected. for my game room.

Check out this video

This video is of a sign my boss and I put together. He fabricated the letters and backing. I painted it in the booth, assembled it, wired it and installed it (its him in the video helping me install it). RGB LED system with RF Remote for adjustments. Its at Florida Atlantic University in the Porter Davis Game Room. Bruno at Metro Signs cut the vinyl for the 8 ball.

A- Bomb Sign

This sign is not made by Budweiser, this is a sign that I made. It is ALuminum backing that I painted a Phoenix rising from a mushroom cloud. It is Red and white LED backlit and the bomb is made from soda bottles (oned clear and one green and LED lit as well). The neon "A" i got off a check cashing store we were paid to take the sign down and I kept all the neon. (Like I do with all demos). Thank you for the positive comments.
