What do you guys check when trying to minimize air balls? Typically on my SS, I will get one after going for the center drop target. Sometimes it'll ricochet off the bumpers on the center ramp. Do I need to adjust the rubbers?, replace the drop target? Are my flippers too strong?

Air balls are just going to happen, but you can minimize them by making the game a little more steep (note: this increases difficulty too), making sure your rubbers are in good condition so that the ball bounces rather than ricochets, and by making sure you have the proper coils installed on your flippers.

Some games are just mores suspect to air balls than others. My DE Simpsons sees them in almost every game, while my Bride of Pinbot NEVER sees one.

I still get them in mine almost every game, but its far less frequent now with fresh rubbers and wax on the playfield. A new ball can also make a difference.

By the way, if your concerned about cracking or breaking the glass, I wouldnt worry about it. I dropped a whole playfield glass on a tile floor last month and it didnt even chip, let alone crack or break. They are made to take abuse.

Thanks, guys. I just get crazy airballs sometimes. Last night it hopped right back into the plunger lane. Then it kind of launched off a rubber and OVER the flippers and right out.

These are already new balls and I just waxed the playfield. I guess I'll try all new rubbers next.

Before I cleaned mine up, the ball would get stuck on top of certain plastics on rare occasions, I would literally have to remove the glass to free the ball. Thankfully that seems to be a thing of the past since the cleanup.
