Like a number of other members, I'm in search of AB sideart; been digging around for a number of months for repro/NOS with no luck. I happen to have every other NOS decal for an U/R in my collection that I'm getting ready to scan and host, just missing that elusive side art.

Is there a member with nice side art that would be willing to take time out of their schedule to scan their upright for a fee?

Just throwing it out there in hopes of finishing my project. If you're a member with nice side art and the time/means to perform a high-quality scan, let me know - I'd like to chat.

Thanks for your time!

Bumping for renewed interest - for now I'll laminate my resto until someone takes me up on the offer or I land another cabinet with some decent art. Scrounging around the valley for months, the AB cabinet has been really hard to find around here... paid more than I should have for this one but it is what it is.

Now have a full collection of NOS art to go on the bezel once I respray it. I'd like to scan these in and make them available for others since they seem to be getting more difficult to find.

I took a shot at scanning one of the exhaust decals today in 600 dpi (24 bit color; scanner is a Brother MFC-7840W in .PNG format) - looking for any feedback or advice on nuances of scanning to make sure I have a quality scan. The 300 dpi looked decent, but didn't capture the same level of detail in the metallic as did the 600 dpi.

Here's the result of that scan: www.znful.com/Afterburner/CCI05092011_00000.png

I would just like to say Kudo to you and anyone else who takes the time to scan this stuff in for everyone. I am currently myself working (slowly) on scanning/recreating all the art work for Smash TV. Since I don't have the side art either I am working off photos.

I have an excellent "specimen". My upright has great side art but I don't know how to scan it. I don't even have a scanner. If you can find someone in my area that can do the scanning I would let you use my upright.

Give me a little time and I will scan my artwork which is pretty solid.

No rush - still a bit out on my cabinet - but please let me know when you get started so I can make sure its worth your while to do so - thank you!

Last night, I finished scanning all of the bezel pieces with the exception of the instruction plaque - I absolutely cannot get it to look good without blurring because it's screened on the back of the plastic so when it scans through the front it distorts the image. If someone thinks they can make it work by hand-tracing, I'll post it up.

For now I can host on my own webspace - do KLOV members have anywhere else they can host archived items like this?

These are all in 600 dpi .TIF files (big files); afterwards I quickly ran them through Illustrator and made decent first-pass EPS files. You lose the metallic appearance of the dark-grey area, but if anything it shows that the baseline scans should be decent for anyone that wants to take things from here and make decent repros from them.

Yes sure,

I will let you know before I start scanning.

Thanks very much for your time and work, the scans are great. Just a couple of things though;

AB_Star_L [vectorized].eps - CORRUPT when unzipped
AB_Exhaust_2_v.zip - dead link

AB_Star_L [vectorized].eps - CORRUPT when unzipped
AB_Exhaust_2_v.zip - dead link

Exhaust link fixed; looks like I'll have to re-vector the Left Star flag tonight... in the meantime someone can use the mirror-image of the right side.

EDIT: Left Star flag redrawn - should be good to use

Thanks!

So I've endeavored upon trying to create decent repro sideart for the upright - have 2 sides that I'm in the process of scanning and am considering the investment to have the scans hand drawn/vectorized, but came up against a concern... there is a lot of dithering/halftone on these side art pieces, so not sure how to proceed once my scans are complete.

Looks like I will need to compromise to some degree - just unsure on what the best printing method is going to be on this project... looking for a little insight as to what folks would think would look the best as the complete project?

Here's a close up of the extent of dithering in the art:

Get with Jeff Rothe/coinopspace for some info on the dithering. I swear I saw a post/article with the same situation.

I'd like to see these made. Solvent Inkjet would be great for this, I'm in for a set. I think it would be a really fun restore.

Where and how?

Hey guys, I've never printed artwork before and I need some of these decals, but don't know what to do with the files (.tif and .eps). How does one go about printing these as decals for the machine?

Exhaust link fixed

.EPS Exhaust link is still bad, but thanks for the work!
