AfterBurner II Stand Up Arcade _ Need new SSR piece, where can I find one?

Hello, and happy new year. I recently purchased an afterburner stand up arcade. When I first played it I noticed the motor was not working. I opened the back and found that the motor was unplugged, so I connected the clips and powered it up. When it turns on the motor constantly runs. I've done research and narrowed it down to the solid state relay for the motor. My problem now is where I can find one to replace it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You can order parts for Sega machines, but not sure if Afterburner is one you can still get parts for.

Try going here: http://www.sauservice.com/

If you have the manual, you can get the part number, and call Betson. They're a distributor for Sega. But, they'll need the "Sega part #."

Hope that helps.

seemed to me the ssr itself on ther board is replaceable too.. if its anything likr the relay board for outrun, that is. let me see if i can dg up an old post

ahh hers is is, looks like this applied to the light ssrs and not the motor ssr. http://dweeb.net/afterburner/ssrfix/

ironically enough im pretty sure the shaker motor ssr board assy is the same board as one for an outrun, so you might be able to source one that way.

Thanks for the info. I tried calling the Betson place that was mentioned, but they were closed for the weekend. I'll try Monday, and also mention to them what you said about the outrun SSR. I just hope I can find the part through them, it would be half the battle...

Are any of the boards you are looking for also used in the Afterburner cockpit? If so then I have them for sale.

Be careful with that information. Afterburner has both AC and DC SSRs... they are not interchangable.

I'm pretty sure compatialbe SSRs (just the SSR component, not the entire PCB) can be had pretty easily from a number of electronics suppliers (Jameco, Mouser, etc.). If you can post a nice close up, in focus, high resolution, pic of the SSR in question, it'll have the specs needed to find a suitable substitute.

IF it's the same PCB as OutRun's shaker motor SSR boards (Sega P/N 839-0048), I've identifed the following as a suitable replacement:

KYOTO KF0604D, Jameco 175222 ($10)
Output: 3-60VDC, 4A max
Input: 3-32VDC
Pinout: 4-3 OUT, 2-1 IN
Spacing: 4-3: 10.16mm, 3-2: 12.7mm, 2-1: 5.08mm

Oh, and it might be worthwhile to test the output to make sure it's shorted... it would suck to replace the SSR and it turn out the problem was a wiring issue, or PCB output problem, not a shorted SSR.

I'm not sure, but I would almost have to imagine that they would. How much are you selling them for? Do you have a PayPal account?

I know. thats why i said i was pretty sure that covevered the ssrs for the lights only..

Im pretty sure outrun and afterburner use the same or simular shaker motor and i also had a spare outrun shaker ssr board that i installed in my afterburner, so theres at least a good chance its the same thing..

for $10, id buy one of those ssrs you mentioned and try to fix my ssr board.
