After Burner Throttle Decal/Plate for Upright - What does yours look like?

In attempting to replace my ratty Fast/Slow throttle plate for my Upright After Burner machine I discovered that there appear to be two types:

If you have an UR After Burner--which do you have? The one on the left or the one on the right? (Preference?)

I don't recall, but I did get an NOS one from Mylstar, which I'm guessing the one on the right is? It's packed away for when I get to the dang thing.

I picked up two After Burner U/Rs recently. One has the first, the other is missing the plate.

So the next question is then:

Do you push forward or pull back on your throttle to go FAST on your After Burner UR?

It just seems odd to me that there would be two different ways to throttle.

For your entertainment here is some research I did on the web:

From gamesdb.com:

From KLOV (not mine):

From random image on web: (You can't read it but you can clearly see the funnel shape indicates this is the one with FAST at the top and SLOW at the bottom.)

From Google Sketchup:

From one that was for sale in Wallington, NJ awhile back: (This is the only one I could find with SLOW at the top.)

Fast on the top and slow on the bottom, mine is original. Besides fast is forward on my upright model; and this is how real throttles are in jets.

I agree. It's a shame that the NOS part from SEGA is backward. I wonder if they printed a bunch wrong and those were what was left over.

It would be great if we had a Sega connection here to exploit this very important question.

You could always reverse the leads on the potentiometer to match the reversed art.

Yeah, that's been talked about but then you're pulling back to go fast which as the above poster mentions--is not how aircraft work. So it's counter-intuitive. I think I'll leave it the way it is and ignore the cruddy sticker in favor of comfortable game-play.

I'm sure if we got a scan of someone's it could be cleaned up and reproduced--but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of love for the After Burner UR.

Some of the sitdown cabs had fast to the rear and slow to the front. Maybe some U/Rs came that way too.

mine is up for fast.

Im thunking maybe kids bitd had a hard time with it so they changed it to fast by yanking down.

Those cabs are tall. Mine also had the flight stick reversed when I got it. Since I've flown flight sims (including Star Wars!) since I was a kid there is no possible way for me to unlearn that and I immediately switched it back.

I guess I'll use my ugly plate until I can get a high res scan of the one I have now and have it replaced.

Old thread, but looking for this same throttle decal with FAST at the top too.

Is there anyone who has a used one in great shape? Since the NOS version is opposite of what I need.

After burner Upright.

I'm looking for a (fast down) if anyone has one for sale myself as well as a left red lens!
Someone make a complete AB sticker set too& sideart I'm sure there's a market I seen quite a few looking over the years.

I bought an NOS piece from videogameparts, and it's the flipped version, but I plan to just switch the wires and use it. No big deal.

And so is mine. Fast in the down position with matching plate.

To the poster above looking for the left lens. I had a difficult time finding both left and right lenses for my upright AB, so I got creative and traced out the two pieces out of plexi glass and cut them perfectly to the originals, then I used some red spray paint for plastic, and they look just as good as new. Just an idea anyway :)

Agree, fast should be on the top. That's why you occasionally see a F-18 on a trap go to afterburners when they aren't supposed to - they bump the throttle over the gate on the trap.

Best two hours of my life - spent on the Admiral's bridge on the USS TR, watching night landing ops on a VIP tour.
