I am beside myself at the kindness and generosity that revolves around these forums. Thanks to a very, VERY kind KLOVer by the name of Mark H., as well as everybody else who has chimed in and helped me get this game repaired, Tempest is alive and working. Mark H repaired my monitor a total of 3 times. Rest assured, Mark, your generosity and hard work will not go unrewarded.

The picture is set a little small and off center and the red is a little too bright (retrace lines visible), but with what I have been through with this monitor, I am scared shitless to adjust anything, so it will stay the way it is, and I have no right to complain. I am just thrilled to finally play my Tempest.

If someone breaks into your garage and steals your marquee and replaces it with a ripped one...it wan't me. :)

Have fun playing!

The game's outputs were set too large, so the size of the image was blowing out the transistors every time a large or bright image occured (like the flashing "TEMPEST" or the woosh through the levels)

try adjusting the red drive or red bias on the neckboard to see if that fixes it. the red bias pot should take care of the brightness on the red.

Thanks. I am fine with working with the neck board, as that seems to be the only part of the monitor that never failed on me, hah! So I will do that.

As for the position and size of the image, is it safe to adjust the PCB pots while the game is running?

Probably serve you better in test mode.

Ya, put the cross hatch up and have at it. Keep the picture well within the edges of the tube. But over all, I am glad you saw this one through. Ten times more rewarding than the ones that just need a fuse. If every game you ever bought just needed a fuse, you would never learn anything ;)

Congrats.
