Has anyone successfully repaired a aerosmith revolution x sound board ?

Still working on it. I have one dead one and one that works about 10% of the time. If I flex the board it works. I'm going to recap them and go over the solder to see if it works eventually.

I find it unusual that every person that's ever attempted to repair one of these has been unsuccessful.

I'm not entirely sure what fails on them, I don't think enough juice goes through to nuke any of the power pins or anything, but who knows.

low audio though, wouldn't that be like a cap thing?

I purchased a Revolution X unit today and the soundboard test failed. When i opened up the back and took a look, the light on the gun board was lit, the light on the sound board wasn't, and of the two lights on the main board one was lit and one was blinking.

I know nothing about the guts of these things, but if anyone could lend some advice on what to do Im all ears. It seems that the soundboard issue is a common theme, so feel free to snicker before replying....

is Revolution X wired up like T2?

main board plugs into the gun board, then the gun board plugs to the sound board. pretty weird setup.

also, since they're both DCS games, are the Revolution X sound boards the same as MK2?

Is T2 DCS? It is wired differently. Connectors for DC power and logic come straight from the motherboard. The sound board is also powered with 12v AC which comes off of the transformer.

T2 is not DCS, no, but they both wire up the same way.

Williams/Midway didn't really detract that far from the old design much with Y-unit and T-unit, so yeah.

I'll have to look at a manual sometime just for fun. not like it really matters to me. lol

Rev X was the only game midway put out on the X-unit hardware. It uses a completely different sound board than t/y-unit games. That's why its hard to get replacements.

ahoy, thank you sir.

I always thought it was a derivative of the T-unit + a gun board like T2 was a Y-unit (albeit with a faster CPU than any of the other games) + a gun board.

rev x & t2 conversion

I have just found out the t2 has a totally different wiring harness. none of the plugs except for jamma is the same. Probably will find out today when I get the t2 harness in whether everything will hook up without modifications. Will post what I find out.

Is the guns the only problem area using the t2 board & t2 wiring harness ?

I just got one and I have the same issue. Is there an easy fix (I doubt it)?

Have you managed to fix yours?
