Before the temps dip to low, I am thinking to insulate the garage / arcade storage room. I am good with insulating the sides and ceiling, but what do folks do about the garage door itself?
If your talking about the bottom of the door..you could replace your bottom lip so that it makes good contact with ground..if you have good seal you shouldn't feel air coming in...a cheap fix is blanket or something pushed against it for those really cold days..
My brother and I did the same thing with Styrofoam sheets (it may be what frizz mentioned, but it's basically styrofoam, and we used 1.25 inch or something... just barely fit in the door). Just cut the sheets to fit in the door, slid them in, and viola. It's light weight enough where it won't bog down the motor, and it looks clean. I'm going to have to do it on my garage door one of these days.
The stuff from Home Depot is garbage - get the thick foam panels that are vinyl on one side (they come from 3M,) fiberglass roll insulation or other similar R rated insulation.
I have the foil bubble wrap like stuff (got pretty cheap on ebay)... it looks good, and it definitely helps. It also reflects light, so it makes it a little brighter.
no matter what you do its gonna leak, insulated( foam filled) door definately helps. get some weather strips to seal out the cold air and adjust the door to fit as snugly against the opening as possible.
i have a old firnace in my garage, it works like a champ!
