advice needed: taking apart a driver for moving/SF Rush dimensions

I bought two sit-down Rush the Rocks and need to transport them about 100 miles to my house. My little truck can't handle a trailer, and Ryder decided they're no longer doing free mileage. Penske/U-haul would cost ~$350 when you add mileage, gas, and coverage in.

A friend said he would help me, but his vehicle is a cargo van and he said we could lay the games down side by side in the van. I know you can disassemble the seats from the game, can anyone give me some dimensions on the two parts on the game?

Has anyone here ever transported a driver(s) like this?

Not to be pessimistic, but man they're ain't no damn way. The seats do not really come off, it's one big piece with the 'upright' piece attached to it, and they're not supposed to be removed. I'm talking nails glues staples type shit. Also they're huge, you wouldn't get two of them in a van.

The good news is, since they're Rush's, you're going to have to take them completely apart anyways to repair the wiring, the bad monitors, the bad steering, and to replace the hard drives. So if you DO have to take them apart, it won't be for nothing, lol.

WOW! I just called the seller to ask his advice. By coincidence, he said his pin/arcade tech was there now, lives in my area, and would bring them both right to my house today for $100!

Do that, it'll save you a ton of headache. Also you can probably get 1 decent one out of the two by swapping parts, then work on the other stuff to get the other one going. Let us know what you find wrong with them!

Um you can take the seats off very easily. 8 bolts on each side and unplug a cable then you have to halves. Very easy but I would just pay the hundo and be done with it.

If they are dedicated Rush the Rocks, i believe the whole cabinet separates into two pieces. The original SF: RUSH was one complete cabinet.

However....on my SF: Rush

The seat does unbolt. The Green monitor shroud also can come off and free up a lot of space/make it easier to move.

I drove 300+ miles to get my SF: Rush from member Mikeatunion. When i got there, he had removed the green shroud, monitor, seat, and steering wheel so we could load the cabinet in my pickup. Once loaded, i reassembled all those pieces and strapped it down.

When i got home, i again removed all those parts so me and my cousin could unload it.

I'm positive that the Rush the Rock's do not unbolt, and are one big piece. You can do things like remove the plastic seat, but what's that save you? The cabinet doesn't come apart with 8 bolts, that's a Rush 2049, entirely different cabinet. Rush the Rock cabs are the same as the original San Francisco Rush cabinet, 1 piece.

Not sure what you mean by the "it's one piece", my Rush the Rock splits into two pieces. This pic doesn't show the part where the bolts are, but it does give you the idea.

My my, that's pretty damn cool. The (oh, 4) I had never came apart, the bottoms weren't cut and were 1 large piece underneath the game. From now on I'm just going to buy your kind, LOL

What size type bolts do these use I have a similar potential problem and may need to separate to get through the door thanks

Only dedicated rush the rock comes apart. The original rush is all 1 piece.

you can cut the original rush to split the cab, when you do, you will probably find a channel where you can fit maybe a 2x4 in there where the wires pass thru. but obviously, you will need to make a quick dislconnect for the wirep

not sure on rush the rock, but crusin world and rush 2049 use a metal u shaped bracket that takes like 2.5-3" threaded security bolts. Sometimes people just put in regular bolts.

Thank you I guess what I really needed was the width of the machine online said 30" the auctioneer said 32" for me it's a huge difference

What @LyonsArcade said. Oh heavens, GO FOR IT.

30" wide. that should include the green plastic protrusions to the front bezel. but if its an issue I am pretty sure you can remove the bezel to get thru a small door. I would think without the green bezel, its probably 27-28" wide. and maybe 58-60" tall

Very much appreciated looking forward to getting my rock tomorrow screen seemed very dim but otherwise working and steering wheel seemed to be on autopilot during the attract so I may have my work cut out for me

Wow, the last time I posted in this thread was 2009.

So I'll try to be a little more detailed since I have both versions of the cabinet. Dedicated Rush and Dedicated Rush the Rock. I have not modified either cab, both still in the same condition as I bought them.

The dimensions on the flyer are pretty close. In my first pic you can see they are a little bit under 30 inches wide. But you would not want to try and lay them on their sides, this would crack the plastic bezel as it sticks out past the cabinet.
Whenever I have transported them, I have removed the monitor bezel. Sometimes even removed the 27" CRT out for safe transport and much lighter to lift the game. It's a little bit of a task, but can be done with about 20 minutes of time.

I included pictures of the difference where the dedicated Rush the Rock cabinet separates and the dedicated SF Rush does not separate. The dedicated Rush the Rock is the one on the right. The bolts (at least in mine) are hex head style, which can be removed with a 15mm hex socket or wrench. The bolt threads are 10mm x 1.5

One of my games came with this L-shaped security Torx tool. As you can see on the end of the tool, it is the "security Torx" style tip. Size T30/H30, there are also smaller security torx screws that T27/H27 and T20/H20. I think most of the screws you will need for disassembly of the monitor are the T20/H20. I am putting the "Hxx" torx number on there because I can't remember if there is a special size designation when it's security torx instead of regular torx.

They also both have caster wheels on the bottom with leg levelers, and you can adjust the leg levelers up and the game will roll on the caster wheels

I hope this helps people with their questions.

Thank you for this information it appears I was able to just remove the door and it just slid right in. About to turn it on now and see what's what
