Hey All,

I seem to go through Dolly's (hand trucks) like crazy. Broke another on yesterday. I must have gone through half a dozen in the last couple of years. Must be those Atari cabs ;-)

Can anyone suggest a bullet proof one? I'd be more than happy to pay for something that will last. ideally light-ish, 100% aluminium, and has folding down wheels that lock (can tip and hold a cab at 45' and move around, type)

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Is the very same one that I just destroyed. Was holding up a Star Wars ROTJ when one of the wheels ripped off, and crashed to the ground.

I've looked at the Magliner site, but they don't seem to sell the "45 degree trucks"

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about getting that one but I guess I'm gonna shell out the money for something like the Magliner multi position trucks instead.

Dolly

I bought this one from an operator when I was buying all his games. (he did not need it anymore when I left.) I love it. I dont weigh a lot so when I have to grab games from the rear, I cant tip the bigger ones sometimes. I do not have that problem with this one. I can tip Papaerboys, Pole Positions and larger ones with little effort. I have moved 100 games with it in one day with no failure issues at all. I have no idea where to get one, but if you find one, get it. It will last you forever.

I use these two:

The red one is 72" tall. I picked it up used. I bought the magliner a few years ago.

if you want to go aluminum, I would go with this one..

don't buy a dolly with baloon tires.. Get one with a ratchet strap..

I borrowed one similar to the truck linked at amazon while I was at CAX. That thing was amazing! I am big enough to control a game on a normal handtruck easily, but I definitely added one of these to my list of must haves. I saw one a little fancier at the show, and the owner said he got it from grainger. We have one here in Reno, so I am going to go check it out one of these days when I have an extra $300 laying around.

My dolly was the best purchase I ever made.. I got For $100 at an appliance repair shop. They quit using it as they went to aluminum ones.

When moving games, any variable you can remove, makes the job eaiser. Solid tires, 4 wheels, ratchet strap all remove variables. I use the rear wheels to lift games up uneven surfaces and wide steps (put all the weight on the rear wheels). Ratchet strap makes moving cocktails solo not a problem. Some people make adapters to widen them so you can grab a pinball..

Get a tall one( 60" or more, 72" is best). The only drawback is the weight, but if your going up stairs and have 1 or 2 people to help, 2 people ontop can grab the handholds and 1 can push from the bottom.

They have a version of this one at Costco right now for 100. Seems like the angle on it is a little more steep than it needs to be for arcade games, but I was wondering if anyone's actually used it....

That one looks like junk. The length of the tongue on the bottom indicates it is for light loads. The wheels on the back that allow it to convert to a cart confirms that. Also it has ballon tires which don't work well with arcade games. Conclusion: Good for moving boxes around the office, bad for moving anything else.

My answer to the question was going to be "Parton", but then I saw the recommendations against balloon tires, so I'll have to change it to "Madison".

Tires

I have a few different ones. My favorite is the one with the big tires. I can go accross uneven terrain, Grass. Up steps with ease. The refrigerator dolly style one sucks IMO. It has a hard time rolling over a pebble with the small hard tires.

I have this one from Home Depot. It has solid wheels and works great going down stairs, but I haven't had to go up yet. Only thing I don't like is the two-handle design.

Only advice I have is stay away from inflatable wheels if you have a choice. They tend to be really unreliable compared to good ole' hard ass dolly wheels. Moving games with wonky tires is really, really hard.

Best Dolly evar...
