I found a pattern generator on ebay. It has outputs for R/G/B, hsync, vsync, blanking, etc. It was super cheap.

The pattern generators I have used in the past were simple devices.. one button that cycled through 5 or 6 patterns.

This thing looks like it could be used to launch rockets. Any idea what all the buttons are for? I'm trying to find a manual. I emailed the company.

Will this work for monitor repair?

Attached are some pics of the back of the unit.

:-\ I had the nearly exact same thing...couldn't find a manual. I had it working at one point, and it can prob do some incredible stuff as I think you can manually enter sync ranges for it, but in the end it got stuck on some mode and I literally spent hours messing with it and couldn't figure it out.

Now if it has a manual...different story, and I'll kick myself for throwing away the one I had.

They're color and it'll do RGB. I had mine with the intention of using it for arcade monitors, and again I just couldn't figure out how to program it. Ended up getting the little handheld one and it works fine.

I emailed the company.. they'll sell me a printed manual for 85$
I'll wait until it show up and see if I can figure it out first.

I'll be damm.. it was used for launching rockets:)

From the manufacturer:

"This instrument was shipped to Ford Aerospace in September, 1984."

Good new is I can get a manual.. bad news is it will cost $85:(
Still a dam cheap pattern generator if it works. It should show up next week.

Orion3311.. what did you do to get yours working?

I'd like to figure out if it basically works before plunking down $85 for a manual.

When I messed with it, I think it asks for sync frequencies which you can either manually enter, or you press mode or program or something like that, then choose a number for a pre-set mode. It should have standard RGB and HV sync outputs on the back. Looks like the one you got has a lot more than mine did but it was still the same basic Vii Rastermaster.
