I have a new-to-me Missile Command that seems to need a vertical hold adjustment. The screen wanders for about the first 15-20 minutes of operation then settles down.

I checked the manual but don't see any instructions for adjusting this. I do see some trim pots on the back of the monitor assembly but needless to say I don't want to just try one and see.

Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

And Happy 4th!

What kind of monitor is it? There are dozens of different ones.

If it's an Electrohome G07, then the V-hold control is the one all the way on the left, when looking at the monitor from the back. (There are four controls standing up along the back of the monitor, V-hold, V-lin, V-height, and H-freq, in that order.) It's also labeled on the circuit board.

If it's another monitor, then the controls will be different. Most monitors have the controls labeled directly on the circuit board, others have little paper labels, and some have a little diagram glued to the frame somewhere that details what controls do what. But, sometimes those labels fall off...

If you don't know what kind of monitor it is, you can look here for pictures of varous monitor chassis: http://www.therealbobroberts.net/monitor.html

If you can't figure it out, post a picture here, and we can identify it. I can spot a G07 at 100 paces...

Also note that if you can't adjust it out, there could be something else wrong, such as a cracked solder joint at the sync header. Touchy controls that won't stay locked is also sometimes indicative of limping electrolytic capacitors.

Thanks Ian - that's extremely helpful!

My mistake not identifying the monitor. I'll investigate further and post the results here.

Ok, it appears that it's an Electrohome G07. Pics attached, and I see from Bob Roberts' site where the V-hold is. Now to see if I can adjust it, or if it needs a repair.

Thanks for the help!
