Picked up a Police Trainer this weekend and was thinking about how boring it is to just aim and pull the trigger. I think I'd like to add recoil solenoids to both guns. Has anyone done this on a gun that did not previously have it? Does the entire gun need to be replaced? Will it power off of the optic PCB or do I have to run another power line for it altogether?

Sounds cooler than I think it would be in practical applications. Unlike many other rail shooters like Time Crises, having a recoil on the gun might hinder this game and throw off your accuracy.

Also, love the cabinet. lol. Best game of all time.

I did think of that, I may at the very least add some lead weights to the inside of the guns because they're just so light and flimsy. I guess I was weak as a kid because I don't remember that style of gun being so light.

As for the cab, it still has the original Spy Hunter II serial stickers on the back. I laughed. I'll never forget either because there's a small amount of burn in from the Spy Hunter II attract screen. Not too bad though.

There is a replacement recoil "kit" that Happ makes including 2 guns, 24vdc supply, interface board and wiring harnesses. I would not pay Happ's retail price, though, it's slightly ridiculous.

I have not installed this kit or played with these guns, so do not consider this an endorsement. Hacking into the existing 5VDC supplied to the guns does not seem like a feasible solution.

The little sensor in the end of the barrel is always a problem coming loose and breaking. I'd wonder if a recoil in the gun would cause you an endless source of grief ?

LTG :)

I concur with Gozer's assessment. There is a lot of really rapid fire in the expert stages. Recoil would make this game annoying.
