Adding ghetto base to a SF Rush?

So I finished refurbing my two SF Rush the Rocks about 2 years ago, and have been really happy with them. They are typically some of the more popular games at my arcade parties. The other day I played a Rush 2049 out in the wild, and I was struck by how much bass the 2049 has compared to my Rush the Rocks.

Is there a way for me to increase the bass on my Rush the Rocks to bring them up to the level of the 2049? I'm guessing that I need to add an amplifier, but I have zero clue if I should use a car stereo amp or something else. If a car stereo amp, does anyone have any direction as to what wattage/brand to use, or special tips as to how I should wire it up (can I just tie into the +12V on the power supply)?
 
We have two 2049s. There's a subwoofer actually embedded in the seat, behind the Atari logo grate. I'd start by seeing if The Rock has the same sub in the same place.

On Monday, I could poke around the wiring on ours if you'd like, give you an idea how it's set up. I've wanted to dig around inside the cabinets for a manual anyhow.
