Adding additional fire button to the jamma harness (not jamma+)

Sorry for asking such a newbie question, english isnt my first language, but I'll try make it clear.

I bought this atomiswave board along with the game Fist of the North Star, which requires 5 buttons on each player. I got the cab for cheap, but the wiring inside is pretty ghetto.. Anyhow its all functional, except obviously that now, I need to add 2 buttons for each player.

From what I understand, the ground loop wiring goes from a joystick direction (up, down, etc), to the other, and then to each button's ground pin, all daisy chained like that.

There is a wire that will go from each of fire4/5/6 slots on jamma connector and then to the positive pin on the button

But can i just daily chain the ground from the other buttons? Is there a way to easily pull out the black wires from the pink connectors without destroying them?

Is there an order i must respect? Do i have to continue the ground loop wiring from button3 into button4, then button5, and then into whatever the original place button3 was original wired to

Sorry to ask such basic questions, I'm just trying to learn.

edit: when i say pink connectors, i mean the 'Quick Disconnect Terminal'

Where is the signal for the extra 2 buttons/player passed from? I can't seem to find a manual at the moment which makes it a little harder to figure out. If the extra buttons are handled through an extra set of pins on the board, you'd need to run the ground wire from that connector and daisy chain it through the extra buttons to have it work. If the extra buttons are handled on some of the normally non connected pins on the jamma connector, then yes, you can continue daisy chaining the extra buttons from the ground lead that is going to the current buttons/joysticks.

Reading again it sounds like it's the second case where the connections for the buttons are actually coming off the jamma connector (uncommon but not unheard of, my time killers and bloodstorm boards do the same thing) and they're already connected in the cabinet, not a kick harness situation. If that's the case, then yes, you can use the ground lead already going to the buttons for the extra ones.

Hopefully my answer isn't too unclear, if there's something in it you don't understand please ask and I'll do my best to clarify.

Welcome to the forums. :)

I am currently contemplating adding a third button to my two button arcade. The Jamma harness has the spots for the third button. Can I wire to that slot for the third button?

Atomiswave uses pins 25/c and 26/d for its extra buttons. 25/c is most often referred to as Neo Geo MVS D button.

Pin 26 is the neo geo select button. d is player 2 mvs select button

26/d is needed to do a hard kick on fist of the north star.
