addams slingshot plastics from little shop of games

so, since i was ordering some board standoffs from Little Shop of Games (see the thread at http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=186629), i thought i'd order replacement slingshot plastics, since my right one (gomez) is broken so i need one, and i didn't want to pay $8 shipping for a $2 bag of standoffs.

you can see the slingshots on the website at: http://www.littleshopofgames.com/Games/addfam.html

they came in on saturday and i went to replace them last night, and, man, they're bad. i've attached comparisons of the left slingshot (morticia) for comparison, with the old one first, followed by the new one (whole slingshot and a head detail). gomez is similar.

is this my bad for not knowing and one i should just chalk up to a learning experience, or should i complain about it?

FWIW, i also ordered some yellow 555's in the same order, and the sleeve came in with only 6 bulbs out of 10...

Not to be a smart ass, some people don't know this, but did you peal the clear protective plastic sheet off of both sides of the plastic? Many people I have encountered don't know that both sides have it.

Curly at LSOG is a stand up guy, if you are not happy with them I'd give him a call, he'll be able to help you out and if you're not happy I'm sure he'll refund your money if you send them back.

I've bought several sets of plastics from LSOG also (STTNG, MM, and CFTBL) and all of them have been top notch.

Yeah, those are some shoddy repros. I bought some insect plastics which came w/ slings, too....thankfully I didn't need the slings, and the bugs are small enough/far enough back that the dotty-resolution printing didn't bother me that much.

yep - peeled off both sides.

good to know. i just wanted to be sure i wasn't being unreasonable - i mean i would have expected "new" plastics to be higher quality, but i didn't know if what i got was typical or what, this being the first time i've purchased any.

I rarely say anything about about any repro's or for that matter other "created" products. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, KLOV is less "assholish" than RGP tends to be but there seems to be quite a bit of merchandise out there that is less than desirable even though some state "licensed repro". It's truly a crap shoot and I generally cringe when I open a box because I expect the worst. I guess sometimes a crappy repro is better than a missing plastic though ;)

Seriously, how do you approach a small vendor like Curly and tell him his product is crap? There's just no good way to do it.

yeah, this is what i was worried about. i need to think about whether to get in touch with him, or what to do with them. i certainly won't use them. the collateral damage is that now i have to see if i can find a *good* replacement for the gomez plastic :/...

interesting thing is that my old gomez plastic is labeled with part number 31-1664-33, while the new one is 31-1664-1 (old morticia plastic is 31-1664-34; the new one is 31-1664-2). were there two different slingshot plastics produced for TAF?
