Which would you rather have for FUN value??

I like both, and might be leaning towards WCS.

I found a local TAF, but it's $2400 and it needs work, The ownere said it plays, but the boards need work..

What does that mean???

Thanks
Steve

Heh, if the boards need work then it doesn't play well. Both are great games, and I had a shot at both myself and ended up buying TAF. WCS is nice though because you can generally get it at about half the cost of TAF.

G.I. connectors could be burnt ...you can still play the game, but w/ no lighting....or it could have reset issues and need new bridge rectifiers or something... won't know till ya look at it!

Do you think $2400 is OK for a project Addams Family then?

Steve

Yes and no.
If everything is there, boards are not hacked up and repairable with a decent playfield (no magnet burn),cabinet, coin door and display I would say yes. That is around what I paid for mine about a year back. To me the playfield condition was #1 and everything else less important. Finding a nice original playfield with no mansion wear or burn is getting harder.

Mine cleaned up really nice with a like new playfield once the mylar was removed.

WCS94 is a great game and a LOT less $$$ than TAF.

Honestly, there are a butt load of TAF pins around in good condition. I have both machines, and for the money, WCS is a better deal. I would also shy away from getting a pin thats not working 100% if you dont want to spend time troubleshooting, and replacing parts. I have purchased value machines before, and ended up sinking several hundred dollars into repairs and sometimes regretted buying the machine.

For me it would be an issue of theme. I do not play Soccer nor do I watch the sport. Therefore putting a pin like WCS out of the equation. For the price range of WCS I would much rather pick up a Getaway, T2, Judge Dredd, Dr. Who, Popeye, etc. Maybe I'm just a little bitter that there aren't more baseball themed pins than there are. It would be awesome to have a DMD baseball pin to go along with my EM one but I haven't seen a Big Hurt for sale in 3 years of looking around at pins. Slugfest doesn't really count although it's cool.

Back to the topic, good luck on your choice! It's kinda funny that you're deciding on two pins that are drastically different in both price and theme. At least they're both from the good company :)

Depends...how are the cosmetics? Cab, playfield? If the playfield looks really great no minimal/no wear, I think that's probably a good deal! Electronics are easier to fix than art, IMO. Even if you do a hacky job - if it works, who else is peeking at the boards besides you?

If the playfield is thrashed, I dunno...$2400 might be too much, IMO. I paid $2400 for my Addams, and it was in pretty good shape, came w/ some mods & Pinball Pro speakers...most of what I did to it was voluntary (new spotlight for the bookcase, some TC decals, some scoop light kits, swamp light, etc)

I hate soccer too, don't count WCS94 out just because of the theme. It's probably the fave pin in my collection. I truthfully like it better than TAF and HSII. I'm a sucker for ramps though, so that helps it :)

Yeah, I don't give a shit about soccer, but I'd totally get WCS for the right price. It's a really fun, bright, unique game. I hate golf - but No Good Gofers is one of my favorites!

There's something about pinball - it can take shit you hate and make it fun! :)

TAF all the way, in my opinion. I would also say great buy as long as you feel you can fix it. You will be into a TAF for about $2500, that is great!
