yup LED kits definitely can change a game significantly. looks nice, keep at it!

Suggestion and a few questions:

Suggestion: Take off your topper and replace the regular warm/white flashers (909 bulbs?) with blue ones. The lightning effect in the dark is freaking awesome.

Questions:

1.) I love the LED look, but at the same time want to maintain some integrity to the machine. I have a few side electronics projects using these wide angle LEDs (which these appear to be "top hat" and frosted for optimum diffusion). The question I had was on the coloring. Incandescent bulbs have a "warm white" wavelength. LEDs are also offered in this wavelength, but I'm curious to know whether your kit is white or warm white? If it's regular white do you like the change? Others can chime in too.

2.) On my TAF (as well as my T2) I removed all the condoms (electric chair, vault, etc...) and replaced them with 44s/555s of the appropriate color. That's actually what the manuals call for and I think the condoms on most of the Williams games were used so that techs didn't have to carry around colored bulbs. The difference to me is amazing. Nonetheless, am I correct in noticing that these remain incandescent.

3.) Are all the LEDs white? I ask this because the insert plastic usually defines the color that your eyes see, but was wondering how this works with LEDs.

Thanks for your time.

I don't know if I want to LED my ST:TNG, but I am buying a ton of bulbs for my Quicksilver and I want to add LED some accents to my Quicksilver. I was thinking about adding some color ones to the yellow pop bumpers and there is a circle of lights that I was thinking about adding greed LEDs to as they are green, but dim.

I took your advice and you're right. The blue flasher LEDs are awesome under the topper, but alas, it's daytime, so I can't really snap a pic right now.

1.) The kit comes with soft white and warm white LEDs. There is an instruction map that tells you where each one goes.

2.) No. The kit has special LEDs that take the place of the condom'd originals. They are colored specific to the location. There is not a single incandescent bulb that remains on the entire machine if you use every single LED that comes with the kit. It even includes general illumination LEDs for the coin door lights.

3.) Only the ones that are supposed to be white are white. It comes with colored ones for the mansion, colored flashers, colored targets (G-R-A-V-E), etc. The white general illumination ones ARE in fact white. Compared to the original incandescent ones that had an "amber" look to them, these LEDs in my opinion are true white.

I've done partial-full LEDs on 4 games so far and really like results. Some games don't seem to lend themselves to LEDs (indiana jones), but for the most part I think they really make a game pop.

STTNG will look sweet done up with LEDs since the art/theme will work with colored lighting. I'd start off with inserts first and decide how far to go once you get a feel for how they look. I did this with my T2 and ended up doing the whole game after a couple months.

Just finished doing LEDs in my STTNG. I only did the GI and inserts and I can say that it's an amazing difference. Some games don't look right with LEDs but it's a huge plus on STTNG!
The other benefit is knocking down the power draw so hopefully it will extend the life of everything....less crispy connectors!

Did you put in LEDs in the top lanes? Does the beam in effect still work with LEDs?

Not sure what you mean by the beam in effect?

Yes, did LEDs everywhere EXCEPT the backbox and flashers.

In the lanes when the ball lights the green federation light in the lane is strobes in at a high rate and it looks like a beam in. I have heard that lighting effects like this get lost with LEDs.
