Agreed.... I miss the Tombstone days.... Lol

That's the problem these days - cameras.

They are everything.

They see the racoon walk up to my front door at 3:00 am.
The possum.
The two cats that visit.
The delivery people.
Me mowing the grass.
The wife tending to her flowers.

And if one is there - woe be unto you.

Even the Secret Service who blocked a camera before taking over a woman's business as a command post (with the alarm blaring in the background, and yes, this violated the constitution) got in trouble because before they blocked the one on the outside (and forgot the one on the inside) they were captured on tape.

Like I said, Find someone else to bicker with. I have no interest in satiating your pathological need for attention.
Suggestion: Just block him. You'd be surprised how nice the forum is without his garbage comments.

I sometimes will peek (like this one), but honestly, I don't see what that usual blast of acid added to the debate or discussion. I think you nailed the problem quite well in your reply.

Yeah... this forums ignore function works surprisingly well vs the former forum software.

Property Rights are in part the Foundation of Western Civilization.

Where we find the right to protect our property, we find freedom and liberty.
Otherwise we find Tyranny.
After reading this thread I took a survey of five people I talk to several times a week.
1. Joe- yard hand, possibly the dumbest person I know.
2. Brad- truck driver, average every day dude.
3. Jay- mechanic, average every day dude.
4. Janie- corporate upper management
5. Dr. Shankle- owner operator of a private practice and cattle ranch. Super Genius.

I asked them this question " if someone steals my mower, I drive around and find it in their driveway, I then take back my mower...what can I be charged with ?" Without leading they all answered the same way and I quote "Nothing". Jay added, if the thief claimed ownership it was then a civil matter and police would leave it at that.
I realize it's nearly impossible to change minds but maybe this will help.

REQUEST: Reduce the ridiculous size of images like the ones above. I assume you're using a phone... on a PC they take up an ungodly amount of real estate and makes it very difficult to read... (they appear at 973x2000)
I always manually resize my images, but that's on desktop (I don't do a whole lot of KLOV on phone)

Sure, but if the scum who has your stuff calls the cops and says that you are stealing from them and you don't have proof positive in your hands that you own the item in question when the police show up then guess who is in trouble at that point?
And the item(s) in question get seized and held as evidence.

911, what's your emergency?

Yeah, I'm a criminal and I may or may not have warrants, drugs and other stolen property at my house. Now I don't usually call the cops on myself but I stole this guys mower and I think he stole it back. And get this, the diabolical sumbich waited till I wasn't looking. I saw something out my window, went outside and my new mower was gone. I can take you over to where I stole it and you can arrest him. Hey, you don't think he has the receipt for that mower do ya?

That works until the Perp calls the police and accuses you of "stealing" their property.

So unless you have something where you can show the fraud, Good Luck.

and I wouldn't put it past Adam / Travis / whatever the rube calls himself to do that.

Except it would be:

911- what is the nature of your emergency.
There is a guy here with a truck, and he's taking my property from my front yard.
911- We'll dispatch an officer.

You expect criminals to TELL THE TRUTH? Really? Because they don't.

That would be awesome. Now he has admitted to having my property, likely has a criminal record, possibly on probation, active in other criminal activities and filed a false police report. Meanwhile I have a receipt, warranty records, bank records, my entire family testimony of ownership and no criminal history.

And you still get arrested on the spot.

They let the lawyers sort it out.

And your life gets tossed into the salad system.

Let the police do their job.

Police do their job? The guy has been stealing from this community for 15-20 years. Police have had their chance. But you believe if I even dare to try to recover my own property that some task force of Super Cops will swoop in and really take care of business. You are a crazy person to simultaneously believe both things.

I speak from experience after recovering cars, guitars, fishing poles, tools, dogs and many other items not only for myself but for friends and family. I learned this from the POLICE! My wife's uncle was a LEO and he made it very clear "Rick we don't have time to do this stuff, but you have the right to protect your property " Not one criminal I've dealt with ever called the police on themselves.

I must not be clear.

You can't compare past events (fraud committed by mail) to walking up to someone's home and taking stuff directly in front of their garage. You are contrasting apples and dogs.

One event is reported to police after the fact. It involves (likely) interstate crime. Since it's interstate or mail fraud, local law shrugs - it's not their stuff. (Which is likely known by the perp in this case, which is why he operates this way).

One event is reported to police potentially while the "crime" is in progress. Yes, police will dispatch for theft in progress unless they are busier elsewhere, and if they do, and you are caught, you will likely be arrested.

Remember, the police are not the judge. Anything you say to them will be considered, but you put yourself in a Really Bad Situation, and even if you have iron-clad evidence, they can arrest you and say "Tell it to the judge."

Choose carefully. And yes, I consulted with my friend, who is a County Sherriff (the elected one who leads the department) on what his people would do.

Best of luck.

If one would accidentally drag the pallet to the curb or street.... Would it then be considered to be on public property and thereby a hazard and open to being "cleaned up" by concerned citizens?

Asking for a friend.

Same problem. The "victim" here calls the Police, tells them you did that.

You still get arrested. And now the onus is on YOU (as your name gets dragged through the local media as someone accused of GRAND theft) - oh, and if you work in a regulated industry or one sensitive to adverse publicity, it now puts your job on the line.

I work in the nuclear industry. If I get arrested for anything other than a traffic violation, I have to report it to the company I work for. They will investigate, but I'm suspended without pay until it's sorted.

Of course, if you don't have that, hey, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

But as my friend Terry opined, it's easier to KEEP you out of jail than GET you out of jail.

Choose wisely.
