The police don't care they won't respond to that nonsense unless you live in some small community where they are super bored. I've had my cars hit on 2 seperate occasions once by a drunk driver while parked on the curb. Neither time would they respond I was told I could come in and file a report if I wanted to. Heck in portland you can burn down buildings and vandalize business and they won't do anything to you as long as you say your doing a peaceful protest.

Peaceful protest? What's that?

Can a robber report something stolen when they are the ones that originally stole it?
"that's for the courts to decide. You were caught removing property from this person's residence without their permission."

Hand cuffs you, places you into their vehicle.

Now you get to make bail.

You are in Portland.

Elect better people to fix that.

The rest of the US is different (except for Chicago, California, and some other states). Our police do show up.

But what if I caught them removing it from my property?

Do I get to blast them or just watch them walk off with it then be arrested if I claim what's rightfully mine?

Depends where you live.

You generally call the police.

If you open fire and you aren't protecting your family, well, tough sell.

Generally, someone has to be breaking in and enter. You aren't allowed to shoot someone through the door, although that has happened and been allowed as a defense.

I know of one case in particular with Dave Pogliano where that happened. Dave got divorced, and started going to the gym. He built some impressive muscles. He would also get stupid drunk.

He showed up at his ex-wife's place, and was beating on the door. They shot him dead through the door. The court found them not guilty, even though the statute says "must enter".

Keep in mind here, you are talking about ending a life. This shouldn't be trivialized as "blasting". If there isn't a threat to your life, it will be hard to defend, and you'll end up with manslaughter or murder charges.

Best to let the police do their job. And smarter not to leave your property where someone can walk away with it.

The guy was fine at work. He was just "jacked" muscle wise. He poured himself into the machines, I think to help get his head clear.

But alcohol become involved. This was with his ex-wife and her boyfriend, who shot him through the door with a 44 caliber handgun.

Several times.

The states attorney is the same one who declined to prosecute a commercial driver for assault felony against a sports official because "He would take away his livelihood." One would argue that the commercial driver should have thought of that before he ran out and tried to strangle someone.

You're funny! I've been here almost 30 years... My vote doesn't matter in Oregon and my Portland suburb. Every election I can count on 95% of my choices for candidates and ballot measures to be on the losing side (yet I still masochistically always vote). I want out but my wife has been reluctant to leave. One day, I hope!

Then get involved with the people you support.

Walk for them. Help stuff envelopes. Donate. Put up a sign in your yard. Talk to friends.

We have to work to get the best people elected.

To my knowledge, the only state that allows deadly force to defend property is Texas. And even then, only at night.

Most states are like Georgia and permit the use of force to protect property, but expressly prohibit deadly force except in defense of persons. Specifically imminent danger of great bodily harm to persons.
