ACAM posted on Instagram yesterday that they have set up a GoFundMe to help them keep afloat during this time period. I'm not going to post the direct link, as I think that's been frowned upon before on here, but it's easily found through a search or their Instagram page or whatever.

I just thought I'd let everyone know. I'd hate to see a place I and so many others love, and has so much history, go down because of this (or continue to limit more machines up on the 3rd floor). I donated, and hope others can as well.

Another way to help ACAM on an ongoing basis is by shopping via AmazonSmile with ACAM as your preferred charity/organization. Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase price to any registered charity/organization you wish to support. There is info on it, and a link, toward the bottom of ACAM's web page. Amazon generates a special link for you to use so that they know to send money and to whom, and you can install a browser add-on, if you wish, to ensure any Amazon link you click on redirects through AmazonSmile to ensure your choice of charity/organization gets the funds.

If you buy stuff regularly on Amazon anyway, it's a painless way to funnel a bit of donated funds to ACAM each time without it costing you anything extra and without you having to remember to do it regularly and with hoops to jump through every time. I just set mine up. I didn't know this option existed until I just scrolled through ACAM's home page.

You can also donate directly to ACAM via PayPal. Again, there is a donation link on their home page. You can even set up a recurring donation if you like.

I would donate to Morristown Game Vault or Galloping Ghost (he's far away from me) before I'd donate to ACAM. People say you have to go there certain times of the year for the games to work, but it was sad the time I went and hardly anything worked.

I just picked up a Flower from Komax, one of the games on their rare games list. Once this whole crap settles down it'll be on Richie Knucklez arcade floor. I might have to start finding some other rare gems.

ACAM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit museum and those other locations you mention are not; they are for-profit businesses. If you want to donate your money to for-profit businesses by all means knock yourself out.

Here is a link to the American Classic Arcade Museum if you are not familiar with it:
https://www.classicarcademuseum.org

It's located inside FunSpot in Laconia, NH. It's an amazing arcade that every fan should visit at least once.

There is a link on that website to the fundraiser they are currently having to keep the museum going. I just made a contribution. FYI, "ACAM is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Your donations are tax deductible."

Was there 4 years ago during Laconia Bike Week. I would say 95% of the machines were working. Plus they had I assume volunteers fixing the machines at night to keep them going. They had a very nice memorial setup for Scott Gaulin (1badv6) with some of his personal games setup.

I can't go into details but the reason there's sometimes issues with maintenance at FS isn't because of laziness or a lack of desire to work on the games, it's quite the opposite actually, there's other things at work beyond ACAM's control that get in the way. They have their good spells and bad when it comes to the number of games being up, I just always feel compelled to say something as some people like to bash them because of the bad spells. Because of the COVID shutdown I think they've been able to do a ton of work on things, I'm hoping to go up there next week as they said they're reopening on the 29th.
Personally the place is my favorite haunt and if I didn't live so far away ( 2 1/2 hour drive) I'd be there all the time, they're extremely important to game preservation and well worth supporting.

They don't allow "volunteers" to fix their games due to liability.

I fixed boards for them for free years ago, but stopped when they only let me take stupid shit to fix, while many classics remained dead on the floor.

Funspot could be open right now, but doesn't appear to be.
