About to go look at a converted PC-10, what should I look for?

Looking to save this dual PC-10 cabinet on craigslist from its Golden Axe conversion. I've never owned a Playchoice 10, but would very much like to bring this one back to its former glory. Is there anything specific I should be looking for when looking at a dual cabinet? Also, what kind of expense should I be looking at to get a motherboard / harness / PSU? I wouldn't want to get ahead of myself and purchase a cabinet that'll just be a money sink.

If it has been converted to a Golden Axe, you'll need to check to see if it still has the original Nintendo monitors. Nintendo games use special RGB monitors that that are not compatible with games like Golden Axe unless they used an adapter. Look to see if the monitors are a Sharp XM-200 or Sanyo EZ, be sure to look these up online so you can recognize them. My guess is that they replace the original monitors, but who knows?

If the cab doesn't have these, I'd let it go, as you'd have to build the whole game from nothing. You can order the other stuff off of ebay, etc, but the monitors would be difficult to ship and expensive.

Sadly, Playchoice games are worth a lot more broken up into parts than as a whole. Buying it all separately (PCB, harness, art, 10 games, 2 monitors), my guess is you'd be looking at around $800-1000. Look up 'sold' Nintendo Playchoice on ebay, you'll see what I mean. I'd wait to find an intact game somewhere, even a non-working PC10 can be a good deal at $4-500, if it has a complete set of 10 games.

So very helpful. Thank you. I didn't realize there were special monitors for these. I've peeked on eBay at Playchoice, and I know games are expensive (tons for sale on here and on eBay), but I didn't know what the motherboard, harness, and PSU should run (all I've seen are BIN auctions, and those never seem to be a true reflection of value.)

Both monitors were Sanyo's, hacked wiring got the Golden Axe to run off the top monitor (WHY!?) but absolutely everything was missing pretty much. CP was changed, the glass on the front was some REALLY dark tinted glass he said he'd had custom done, there was no lip to hold the glass in, back was screwed in, and chunks of the back of the cabinet just weren't present. Sad day, but I met a nice guy who has over 100 machines and his wife wants him to cut that number in half, so there may be something in there for me yet!
