Why does Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 use m27c801 eproms, when the rom dumps are only 1meg in size? Can these be replaced with 1meg eproms to save $$ or add multiple roms to one chip to save money? Please tell me why this is. Thanks Long Hair

They are not different.

This apparent discrepancy is due to the common confusion regarding bits and bytes. EPROMs are most commonly nominally sized in the number of megaBITs they hold. Files on your computer are almost univerally shown in bytes (or kilobytes, or megabytes, or gigabytes... but bytes.) There are 8 bits in a byte... so the 27C801 EPROM is a megaBITs, which is equal to 1 megaBYTE.
