Abandoned Food Fight UR #1966 Restoration

For the initial boot problems, not sure. I reseated a bunch of stuff and it came up.

For the later glitches, it was ROM 6 that needed to be cleaned and reseated.

For the missing red color, it was the neck board of the monitor which wasnt pressed in far enough.
Funny on the CRT … I'm testing my replacement tube tonight with my BK467 and was getting weird readings, inconsistent, really low, all over the place. The pins were oxidized. Some deOxit and a dozen on-off cycles with the adapter and everything is solid. Maybe you have the same? Something to watch if it comes back.

That's exactly what I did.

Finished my back door and put other finishing touches on Food Fight and moved it into the Arcade.

And moved it into the arcade! Fuck Food Fight is heavy now that it's full of parts. Getting it into the arcade SUCKED. But at least it's in there. I'll finalize its arrangement and level it tomorrow after I catch my breath...

Got an instant replay though!

Makes sense for most heavy Atari games.

Food Fight obviously will put up a fight.
BattleZone is a battle to move from one area to another.
Asteroids gives you hemorrhoids.
Tempest is a stormy bastard at the best of times.
Black Widow will put you in the grave.
Gravitar does not defy gravity at all.
Space Duel is a conflict of wills and forces.
And others ... :)

Anyway, one down ... more to go. LOL

When I put in the majority of parts back into my Joust cocktail cabinet I was thinking about how heavy it was, then I remembered that it has everything that a full-size cab does. It is deceptively heavy since it is much shorter (wider though).

I love before and after shots, but they are sometimes deceiving. I do them too, but the before almost always looks better than they should. It's like my Tron machine. The conversation usually goes like this:

"Oh, that wasn't too bad."
"Well, you didn't see it in person. It was."

Great job, by the way!

Yeah... I really should have taken more shots before the inirial pre clean. When it was covered in an opaque layer of grime. It was bad lol.

I kinda liked the pies looking dirty. More realistic crust than the white that they became. 🤷🏻

And you also can't see the original odors from the pics either!

Lol yeah, whatever (possibly literal) crap these cabs were covered in, it was FOUL!

Nice job!! I'm at a point where I just look the other way when game "scores" come along... I'm just not driven to fix or restore much of anything. I basically got burnt out on it. When I want something now, I only want to buy something already fully restored. Maybe this will change again someday when I'm retired or something...

That said... I still LOVE seeing great saves and restorations like this! I really enjoy reading about the progress and seeing the before and after, and I appreciate all the steps that go into it, that in many cases, an end user will never really see or know about. But when you did the restoration yourself, YOU sure know about it!

Great save!
