I went to the frog off yesterday, a.k.a. the high score Jubilee. I got to catch up with a lot of people that I have not seen in a while, and got to meet a lot of really cool people. I am lucky in that I live in New Hampshire, so Funspot is less than an hour away, and we have a really strong collecting community here as well. At least a portion of New England collectors get together multiple times each month. Between game days, trades, and warehouse raids... we seem to get together quite often in this area.

It is, however, very nice when Funspot has these events that bring people in from all over the world. I always get to meet different people and put faces with the names here on KLOV. Everybody is always so friendly, and willing to hang out and chat for a bit. I probably met 12 people yesterday, and I had a blast talking to every one of them. It makes you feel like the collector community really does expand outside of your area, and that is a great thing. I got to go to dinner with mps, Richie "Vinny" Knuckles, and another gentleman I don't think it belongs to KLOV. It was really cool eating Mexican food, and exchanging stories! It is always awesome hearing how the arcade communities outside of my area function.

We had a huge game going, eight people playing Daytona 500! That was freaking awesome.

I also hung out and spoke with Dr. Hank Chien her for a while. We joked around, and I asked why he wanted the world record for such an obscure game!...lol He was a great guy.

As usual, Gary did a great job setting this all up, and it was a great between Mike and Gary, to see and hear about a lot of the things going on behind the scenes. I am surprised all the time, about how much effort goes into the things that go on there.

All in all, I had a blast. I can't wait until the next time, everybody comes to New Hampshire/Funspot.

I really am lucky to live where I live, and get to experience the best of both worlds. My local collecting community, and the worldwide collecting community at Funspot. So nah :p!....lol

Really sorry that I could not make it up there yesterday, had to work. Gary, Bob and the rest of the crew at Funspot catch a good deal of flack now and again, but they do an incredible job supporting the classic gaming community and deserve any and all thanks that they can get. A lot of their efforts are behind the scenes and go unnoticed or without thanks. So even though I could not make it to the Frog-off, I would like to add to Andy's appreciation for all they do.
