Got a Tempest last Thursday for $100. It's complete minus a power cord. The back door was off and so was the lower panel (below the back door) when I got it. I put the lower panel back on and I have the back door. Drilled the coin door lock and got $1.13 (score!). Never messed with a color vector game before...should be interesting. Here are the pix...

Cleaned the monitor screen to see how bad the burn is...

I did a once over to the front side to see how it'll clean up. Looks pretty good...

Color vector newbieness does not equal the pain strife and anguish of keeping a Tempest going. Your statement makes it sound like they are all equal - for example, Star Trek (color vector) need to come with a portable fire extinguisher, standard. Known fact. But Tempest is an animal all her own.

I've had 3 Tempests, one Star Wars and one Space Duel and of them; Space Duel is that homely wife you love and who never gives you grief but you get tired at some point and let her go (and regret it later).. You love her but none of your friends know why. Star Wars is the one that makes you slave for money to get her a her a Ferrari or Corvette (in laymen's terms - new monitor) and messes around on you all over town until some guy comes along and buys her off you and Tempest is that lovely angel that pumps up your adrenaline every time you touch her, and springs a surprise on you every time you see her, yet still demands the most of your time, money and devotion. She's worth it, but she's a pill. Tempest is what her name implies. A hard bitch of a game that will give you one hell of a ride. And you will pay and pay and pay until she is happy.

But yes. Deal of the week. I would pay right now for any Tempest, working or not, in clean to average condition and love the opportunity to fix her up.

An empty Tempest cab is worth $100.

Just keep one eye open when you go to bed.

A buck thirteen? Who's dropping pennies into a machine? Let alone dimes or nickels. Or were the quarters procreating?

Verrry niiiice score.

Great Score! And the cab doesn't appear to be all that bad, I've had 5 cabs come through my hands and just about all were worse than that one (I made one good one from the 5) :)

It is a score!

I've seen a WG6100 vector monitor command over $300.oo on eBay. (Also probably the most difficult part of the game to find - and why many ops just ended up converting them to something else.) If there's something wrong with your WG6100, it's totally repairable!

Have you get it working yet? While you're in there replacing the power cord, check the fuses one-by-one. It may be an indication as to if there's something wrong - other than just a cut power cord.

I just ordered the power cord from Bob Roberts last night. I'll inspect the fuses before it gets here. Thanks for the tip.

Rediculous I know. The left coin slot was jammed with the pennies, a dime, and two quarters. I also found a couple repair tags from 1982.

Sweet find, I hope you get it up and running soon. You might want to get on the list for a Tempest Tubes kit listed on here too. A great deal for the $20, I have one and they are very professionally built.

I posted to get on that list just the other day. I sent the payment off to Bob Roberts today for the power cord...

I also picked up an Asteroids for $150...

Congrats on the find! When I got my Tempest it also had a cut power cord and once I replaced it the game worked! That was a really lucky break and hopefully yours is an easy fix as well. :)

i picked up a tempest cocktail last year for $50. it was playing blind. got it home and checked it out. the fuse on the monitor was burnt out. replaced the fuse and adjusted down the brightness and it worked like a charm until i sold it a few months later.
