A tour through Steve Young's Pinball Resource

Ha, funny to see that soup nazi photo, people sometimes call him that for not having online ordering / paypal and for being grumpy on the phone, but he's really a helluva guy and an irreplaceable asset, esp for Gottlieb owners. I worry what will happen when he gets too old to keep it going.

good post.

early on in my experiences I ran into his attitude for noobs on a phone call.
It actually led me to get rid of the old 60s gottleib machine I owned and never ordered from him again. ha ha.

I had a number of emails with him in later years on a different topic, not related to ordering parts and it went much better.

He is a great resource, that's for sure.

I gave up on him after he first opened PBR and the phone was
nothing but a constant busy tone.

I almost ordered a few times... But who wants to send a mo or check....

Easier to paypal.

But yes he has the best hard to find gottlieb parts as per his site.

Yeah, you gotta keep trying back, for sure. lol

I've already placed 2 orders with Steve this year. Parts for a Meteor and Black Hole.

I agree paypal is easier but after your first order is completed he no longer waits for the check to send you your product. In fact I forgot to pay him for almost two months and he was happy to have me send him past payment along with my next order.

Thanks
Blake

I ordered from him a couple times about 15 years ago and then couldn't deal with his effed up attitude. It's too bad he is the gatekeeper for so many good parts.

With online banking, you can set up it up in seconds and it mails a check. Easier than PayPal for me.

All you have to do is email a list of whatever you want to buy. I've placed dozens of orders with him no problems. Just email a list of what you want, with part numbers (which are all on the site, or if it's something weird it's in the manual, or he'll find the part # for you) and your customer name, your address, and they reply back with

"Your order is processing, thank you for your business!"

Easy peasy.

Yup, that's how I pay. When the shipment comes in it has an invoice, you go to your bank website and do bill pay, I just put the invoice # in the notes on the check.

No fees, either, so it's better than Paypal.

I ordered from him for the first time this year. I avoided buying from him for months but I just could not find the bumper cap I needed anywhere else. After ordering it honestly was not that bad but I'd still rather pay online

For those of you who missed out on the world where all we had was a telephone or fax, the order process cannot be easier with Steve. You must above all else have your customer number ready so he can check your payment history while you order. Also, you had better know the part number or if not, use the correct nomenclature on the parts. He gets really ticked off trying to guess what you need.

I've never waited longer than a day for him to get the order out and I've never paid him more than 2 days after the order arrived.

PBR gets a 9 out of 10 from me. I'd go 10, but the website is a touch weak.
