I was walking through the grocery store tonight and had to do a double take. Both
Pepsi and Mt Dew are available in retro cans flavored with real sugar and not high
fruitose corn syrup. I've had RC with real sugar and the taste was very different.
So these should be available at a store near you....

I saw stacks of the retro Pepsi products at Costco yesterday. I'm more of a Coke guy though.

I'm happy Costco renewed their contract with Coke. I buy the Mexican-made Coke in a glass bottle. It's made with pure cane sugar as well. To me, there's no better soda than Coke in a glass bottle.

:)

Saw these in Target with my wife the other night, thought they were awesome. They also had retro Dr. Pepper (my favorite) there.

i love this shit. got a bunch of it in at work, way better the the super syrup shit that they make now. the dr pepper i dont like so much but the pepsi and mt dew are just as i remember them.

Dr. Pepper has been selling Imperial Sugar based soda for years in parts of Texas. In fact, you can order a 5g BinB for soda setups from the Dublin bottler last time I checked.

got mine the first day at albertsons. Still prefer the bottle though. I stick with mexican coke from costco unless I make a trip to the specialty soda store 40 miles away. Nothin as good as Dublin Dr. Pepper original formula from the 1880's. Except maybe pineapple crush sugar formula found only in Newfoundland. Shippings steep though. Classic games, classic soda, and classic cars, (66 convertible mustang) is all I need.

I'm more of a coke person but I gotta admit I saw a 20 pepsi plastic bottle with the old school logo and I bought it...I'm a sucker for good marketing. I think its an awesome promotion!

Yeah Coke guy here as well I believe I might have had the Pepsi with sugar but my crappy taste buds told me it tastes exactly the same as the regular crap.

Yeah now I remember why Pepsi beat Coke in the old Pepsi Challenge and I find it kinda irritating that the actual old sweetener
is only available with a promotion like this. Coke is by far the best "preserved" soda from a big company when purchased in glass
but I like Pepsi better, always have. For those of you soda freaks here in the Phoenix area check out http://www.popsoda.com/
they are over where Los Arcos used to be and have quite a stock of cool stuff in bottles including my real favorite Green River that
I used to get a Farrell's all the time.

You may be seeing a lot more soda available with sugar in the future...

It's early yet and it hasn't yet received a lot of mainstream press but they are discovering that high fructose corn syrup is a lot worse for you than sugar...

I see this falling in the same camp as the trans fats -- there is suspicion that they are not healthy, evidence slowly building until it is overwhelming and then the food industry is bullied into backing away from it.

My prediction -- one day, maybe in 3 years, maybe in 5, most of the soda will be made with sugar again because people will be avoiding high fructose corn syrup and the food industry will switch away from it.

Yes. Green river at farrels and a big 30 scoop sunday that was carried by firemen on a stretcher with sirens blasting that we got at the end of season soccer party was great. Had it 25 years later at bevmo. Tasting nothing like I remembered it with a nasty syrupy after taste. Looked at the ingredients list-High fructose corn syrup. Et tu Brute.

This is the 2nd time they've done the "Throwback" versions of MD and Pepsi. They had them last summer too (with different logos on each). I was surprised when I saw them at the local convenience store. I didn't know they were doing them again...had to pick up several bottles of MD :)

Ha! I quit drinking pop years ago, now it's just beer... :)

Heh... about 10 years ago my doctor told me to switch from soda to beer because of some stomach issues I was having. I asked him if he could put that suggestion down on paper for me. :D (he wouldn't)

I joined Costco simply for this. I had it in Mexico on my honeymoon and actually ended up drinking more of it than beer for the rest of the time. I grew up in a Coca Cola family and having this available again is awesome. The Coca Cola Classic is made with sucrose in Cleveland for some reason, but it is still completely different. I've tried the Pepsi and Mt. Dew and they are OK.

Too bad they didn't make the retro cans in the original size and shape. At least around here, they were the skinny 280mL cans with the two round push tabs at the top, like this:

Anyone else remember those? The small opening made an excellent spout for spraying someone after shaking their can. :)

Dude... Not sure about the one in Strongsville, but the Marcs at Kamms Corner sells Mexican Coke by the bottle for 99c each.

There is also a Convenient store at West 220 & Lorain Rd. here in Fairview Park that has it also, they want $1.25 a bottle.
