Yesterday I really started looking at this Satan's Hollow Cab & DAM !!! (its in pain)

1. First of all I really don't know the game but i think I can like it. (played it at California extreme).

2. I have 0 parts to start the restore.

3. I really like doing restores when half the parts are there.

What you guys & girls think yay or nay

Thanks

Satan's Hollow is definitely one of the "lookers" in a dark arcade.
kind of ominous and creepy, though.

I can still visualize where I saw it the very first time, in a dark seedy basement arcade called The Hole. It was near the glow of Tempest and the attract mode sounds of Tutankham.

I assume it would be a PITA to find the joystick and glowing artwork if you don't have that already.

I suppose you could run an emulated version of the game temporarily if you don't have the HW in the cab.

mine has been converted to arkanoid and after a few months of owning it, sadly from the looks of it it will remain that.

things i've learned:

1- control panel expensive
2- joystick expensive
3- pcb expensive

almost not worth de-converting to me.

Starting to find that out
Thanks

I keep asking where to find a decent repop flight controller but no one ever replies. Could it be there simply isn't any stock other than the occasional used item up for sale?

When I restored a Tron, it took forever and it was very expensive.
I'm almost positive the parts from a Tron to a Satan Hollow are very similar.
Isn't the artwork for a Satan Hollow hand painted too?

I did not know that. I thought it was a stencil.
So more to think about. One thing I notice is when your looking for something, the prices is outrageous or nowhere to be found.
from the looks of it this project might be put on the back burner until parts find me.

Restorations can be expensive (and take a good deal of time), but Satan's Hollow would be relatively unique. The Satan's Hollow control panel is available on ebay for $250 with rough looking artwork, but Phoenix Arcade has the CPO for $60 (I don't have anything to do with either of these offers). That would be a good start. If you can get a Bally Midway MCRII boardset, I have a complete set of the original Bally Midway eproms for Satan's Hollow, (15 roms: 6 program, 2 background video, 4 foreground video and 3 sound). They have been checked against source code and work in my TRON boardset.

Ive got 2 in my garage waiting for restore - finally found all of the parts. If you need help along the way let me know

I'd say go for it. It's an easy one to pick out of any line-up. Such a cool cabinet and theme.

some of my favorite art on any game.. gameplay is just sort of meh to me though.

I had a super nice 95% original one.. sold it and dont miss it.

Well it looks like I'm in for a Satan's Hollow Restore :)
I've just acquired a PCB, harness & the upper control plastic cover.
So I steel need all the rest. But its a good start.
