Is it a good idea or not a good idea to put monitor chassis in the dishwasher
with soap ??. A few KLOVER's say yes and a few say No.
What do you think ??
thanks

I wouldn't in the dishwasher, but there's no reason you can't do in the sink using some grease cutting dish soap like Dawn...

I wouldn't. Simply for the reason of washing your dishes in the same place.

I just brush simple green around on PCBs and chassis then rinse them in the shower.

Done this several times with zero issue.

Sink, Greased Lightning (works better than Simple Green), and a medium stiffness paintbrush.

Soak it down with cleaner, let it sit for a bit, scrub all of the crannies, then rinse with hot water. Stick in front of a fan overnight to dry.

Will blow you away at how nice it will look.

my thread on this from years ago. YES dishwasher is fine as long as you follow my directions on using it. i have run nearly 1000 pcbs, monitor chassis, etc through the dishwasher over the years because i can throw 8 chassis in the dishwasher and come back and they are done. i don't remove anything and i have NEVER had anything go wrong with mine or customers chassis. if your only cleaning 1 or 2 chassis i don't use the dishwasher i use the sink. i wash the tubes, yokes, etc. everything. (i have washed hundreds of tubes and never had the aquadag come off but two of them and they were flaking before the wash.) you follow the way i do it you won't have any problems and BTW i have a dedicated dishwasher because i personally couldn't bring myself to eat off dishes from the same dishwasher.

just because, flyback comes off.

hot water, simple green, sprayer, toothbrush.

rinse.

hair dryer. works effectively.

you can then proceed to cap or do whatever to your monitor that had a rats nest in it.

Same as others here. I put it in the sink on a silicone mat (the cooking type) spray on simple green, work it around with a soft paintbrush and then rinse. I then usually pre-heat oven to lowest temp, throw it in and switch the oven off and leave it be.

So from the Poll it looks like Simple Green, hot water, soft brush will do the job.
thanks guys for all the info.

Shouldn't a plug of some kind be put into the anode hole to prevent any water from getting inside the tube???
