So I am working on my centipede monitor. It has a sync issue. It just scrolls away until it warms up and sync right up.

Typical things I look for cold solder joints, Bad Sync IC, Bad caps bad transistor drivers and broken traces (Not in that order).

After a recap kit, It still just scrolls away.
Freeze spray after it warms up stable. Still stable.

No broken traces. Everything looks alright.

So I am adjusting this in the game thinking I going to have to drag out my scope.

My hand brushes the video cable the stable video scrolls. Tugging on the video cable stabilizes the video.

It's just one of those rare cases where the connector that crimps on to the wire has failed to make a good sold connection.

Tugging on video cable should be part of the testing procedures when dealing with monitors but it's so rare that things fail at that connector. Unless your talking about Williams games LOL
 
If you're talking about "crimp on" connectors like IDC connectors, then part of the repair process should include replacing them with trifurcon connectors.

But I always make it a point to inspect both the solder to the video connectors, as well as the connector itself. My test bench rig recently had the horizontal sync wire break INSIDE the insulation about 2 inches from the connector. I was testing a chassis sent to me from a KLOV member, and sync wasn't supposed to have been an issue. I double-checked it on my bench monitor, then did a continuity check on the monitor cable to find the issue...
 
I had an issue with a 6100 once where everything was good but spot killer was on, until I looked at the molex connector and noticed one of the pins backed out
