A sad Space Duel

Just think how easy it would be to work on since the coin door panel comes right off!!

To boot no over heating with the nice vent hole at the top! :D

I'm 'restoring' a Missile Command cabaret that was in about that condition. Building a new cabinet for it - 3/4" birch instead of PB, but covered in black vinyl as the original, and formica for the front. The original was a swollen, awful cabinet, yet the guts were all there and in pretty good shape.

too bad texas and ohio are so far apart. I make a really nice birch replacement cab!

I thought about a repro cabinet as well. I already have a nice SD. Think this cabinet will be an organ donor. I have not stripped it yet. Maybe tomorrow as it is in my way. :)

That thing is TRASH! Great reason to part it out and save some other game worth saving, or to convert something with a nice Space Duel cabinet back from Tetris.

the caster's look salvagable, lol but seriously is any of the electronics any good?

The electronics seem ok just looking at them. The tube shows rain drops and dust and cat prints on the broken out top. It was an outdoor cab for a little while.

The front lower section literally fell off and I disconnected the wiring harness from it to remove the front. Wiring is complete. Even had the metal coin box in the coin door. Missing lower marquee bracket/speaker cover. Missing front speakers over coin door. Has speakers in marquee area.

This must be where to put Space Duel pics..Just finished this one up last week. :D

Fun game for sure! Hopefully another one gets resurrected. Sadly 3 out of 6 6100s I have are burnt with space duel. Seems to have been a popular monitor donor.

You should give it to me. I have a Space Duel cab that is solid, but had been converted to Shinobi (painted black, too)....

i agree with what other have said use it as a template and scan the side art so some repros can be made!!

That is pretty far gone. Just salvage all the parts and smash up the cabinet. It's not even a good template - any copies you were to make from that would be six inches shorter they're supposed to be...

Last game I had that was this bad, the only thing that was even holding the two sides together was the monitor.

There's plenty of Space Duel cabinets out there that got converted to Double Dragon. Find one of those and fix it up.

Heck the monitor was worth that.

Yes. I was surprised someone else didn't get it first since it was about 90 miles from me (one way). Decided to gamble on the monitor being ok. From what I see just looking at it I don't see any visible problems. The pictures they took didn't make the cabinet lookmso bad. They said they purchased the machine from a friend for $300.00 and couldn't get it to work. I do see the fuses have been messed with. Hope nothing got fried from their poking around. It was a gamble but so far I think I did fine and they didn't get ripped off either. I didnt low ball - they said in the ad they wanted $150 but no offers less than $75.00. They got a good price on a machine that was worthless to them. I am a bit suspicious of the $300 story. :)

Finally stripped. It was like the cabinet had dandruff-anytime I bumped the cab the particle board shed from the water damage. It was worse than it looked. Some good parts I think. Noticed the neck board has a rectangular resistor (white, chalky material- I forget ) that looked eroded from rain exposure - had an indention on the horizontal surface. Anyone know a good source for replacements?

Next stop for the shell is the shoot and burn area. :)

There is a really good selection of those resistors at Fry's. Should be able to get the right one there.
