A sad realization

As i'm browsing the local CL listings, a 4 player TMNT caught my eye. A quick check of Gozer's 3d model verified my fear - there's no way I can get something that size into my house.

The door from my garage into the house is only 29" wide (and that's after taking off some trim), which really limits my options when it comes to populating my collection. That makes me kinda sad. :(

It'll fit no problem. You do realize the control panel comes off, right? Four plugs and three bolts.

based on the measurement of the 3d model, the cab is about 33" wide across the front (not including the CP which I figured could be removed), and about 34" deep. The front door is wide enough, but it's a bi-level home, and the way the floor plan is, it would have to go down a 1/2 flight of steps and around a tight corner to get into the room that way.

Making the door from the garage wider is definitely an idea though! Just probably not gonna happen anytime soon :p

remove the door from the jam and put the game in. Once in reinstall the door. It should give you an extra inch easily.

I don't remember it being quite that wide. Hmm. Maybe it won't fit then ;) I just moved one of those beasts a couple weeks ago too.

Well, now's the perfect opportunity to make that doorway wider.

Put the game in the back of your truck, back truck into garage and through wall of house, unload game, drive truck out.

You're welcome.

just make sure you put a heavy blanket over the game first so you don't scratch it!!!

putting a wider door in isn't that big of a deal, you could probably have it done in 1/2 a day if you know what you're doing...
i'm south of you in chillicothe, but get up to columbus fairly often...i'll come by and have a look if you want me to

yeah, it was more just one of those "DOH!" moments. I've got this ~12'x16' room that wasn't being used for anything, so I'm slowly turning it into my game room. A bit of a bummer that I'd need to widen the door if I wanted to get any bigger games inside.

Rampage was able to fit through by taking off the door and some inside trim, which got me to a hair over 29", which was a very tight fit for that game.

My Golden Tee '97 was a "TMNT - Turtles in Time". Two coin doors, four slots, so I'm assuming it was once 4 player. It's 28.75" (outside) excluding the control panel.

It should. I got one through my garage door which is a standard door. I also got a mortal combat 4 and a blitz 99 4 player through by just unbolting the cpos.

it should fit...like everyone said just take the CP off...i got a Spider-Man in my room here...and its a narrow door...just wheeled it right in back first....no problem.

A dedicated TMNT without the CP is on is less than 28' wide. I have the same issue as you in my home. I was going to move my Xenophobe into my basement arcade last weekend, but I measured it and it is 29' wide. My door is only 28.5 inches. I would have to remove parts of the frame to get it in. It's staying upstairs until I get a walkout built for my basement.

loL Thats why when i remodeled two years ago, i redid all my doors to 36" width, fearing I would have to deal with this problem in the future too!

Best of luck !
