yes, back then, there was really no editing software---plus, you lost quite a bit of quality if you went to VHS...Using a hi band 8mm Sony camera, I filmed it exactly the way you see it...if I made a mistake, or chopped off a word, I set the game back up the way it was and went back and redid it...yes there are some mistakes here and there, but I got pretty good at that stop and start button and could pretty much tell when I could start talking once the record button was pushed!
They were all filmed after 11pm...no phones, etc...on a couple simple games like Countdown (posting it tomorrow), it took maybe 2 hours...but Elektra, Spirit and Vektor were 3-4 hours each...
These tapes have sat all these years--pretty much forgetting about them...I bought on EBay a used sony deck for $550 that plugs directly into the computer with a firewire--a luxury none of the analog cameras back then had--this keeps the clarity up there...once I put this on a DVD, they will be MUCH clearer than the YouTube translation.
I am only adding beginning and end titles, and I am able to do a couple minor cuts on a transistion or two to clean it up--and what I am really hoping is that these videos will get FRESH new blood into pinball! I have 55 new subscribers to my channel in 4 days...the first video ROBOWARS posted 1am Monday already is approaching 550 views! Todd
