A proper Pole Position Free Play mod with attract screen is finally here....

Hey so I realized I don't have 3 2764 roms I can use... and I don't want to pull the stickers off my original roms. @linx310 You mentioned in the instructions you can get away with only burning one? Which one is that the 105 rom? Or one of the other ones?

The 105 will do everything but remove the large game over text

For those of you who have intalled this please list what EPROMs models worked for you. I could not get any of my Intel FD2764-3 to work even though they burned and verified correctly. I think they might have to slow of response time. My woking ones were all Fairchild MBM2764-20 (200 NS response time) EPROMs.

I was able to get the 1 rom version to work with a bootleg 2764. I don't know what the original rom was but the silkscreening says ST M27C64 but they weren't chip identifying that way. I was able to get one to write using the MBM27C64 device profile. I also was having a real problem programming with my TL866II Plus. I ended up having to use my GQ-4x4 programmer to do it? Not sure why there would be a difference there when they're supposedly both compatible?

I'm really hyped that I won't have to explain to guests how to open the cash door and add credits to play! :4:

Really looking forward for the pole position 2 one as well! Thanks a lot :)

This is awesome. I'm going to order some roms from Steph for my PP board, and can't wait for PPII to be available!

And from my observations, rom 105 is the same for both ver 1 and ver 2 of the Atari PP set,
so the same eprom will work on either set.

[ 103/203 and 104/204 are likely graphic chips which differ between the ver 1 and ver 2 track screen ]

Newfie: Thank-you !
Sonoco : Thank-you !

[... that's 5 sets I've provided so far , x $5 donation each to linx310 =$25 ,
... so there's his case of beer right there... let's see if we can get a bit more to get him an order of wings with that ! ;-) ]

Thanks,
Steph

BrokenToken : Thank-You ! (...that's #6 )

... and I've just made a donation of $50 to KLOV.

[ This forum has been of great support to me, so it's only fair to return the favor... I call it good Karma... ;-) ]

Any one interested in a possible "budget" version of the mod that only takes 1 ROM? Trade off is the Game Over text will flash on screen for like a frame or two before disappearing.

Also if you have the Namco version and a rom burner please step forward....
