It never happens really, so I thought I would share.

A few months back my Wii took a shit on me, and Nintendo wanted $100 + shipping costs to repair (and they told me I had to wait 4-5 weeks). Beings I hadn't touched the Wii in MONTHS, I figured fuck it, and called Game Stop to see if they would take it in as trade. The dude said sure, but that they usually knock 30% off a defective system (since they have to pay to have it fixed and still try to make some dough). I didn't care, I was over it and wanted to take advantage of the trade in offers (5+ games give you 30% more + an extra $20). I still had my 1st gen XBOX (which is about to take a shit for the 4th time) so I packed up my broken Wii, my XBOX, and 6 games total and went to 'ol Game Stop. To my surprise, I received (with the promotions and edge card) $315 in trade in. It paid for my new slim 360 (which is awesome) so I'm a happy camper.

The positive experience? The dude fucked up when he was giving me my Wii credit. I got $80 for it! $80 for a broken Wii. Awe-some.

Thanks Game Stop!

Haha. And you got to stick it to them to some degree as well. Nice!

You know the new slim 360s won't accept the old 360s hard drives and vice versa right? For me that is a total fail. I play 360 in two different rooms and I need to be able to move the hard drive around.

Why the hell do people have so many systems crap out on them? The only system I've ever had crap out was my launch day 360 (after 2 1/2 years of pretty much constantly being on) and they fixed it for free. I've never had another system stop working ever. Do peope just beat the hell out of em or what?

Yeah, Gamestop is a rip off, we all know that. But I'm glad you were able to come out on top Jow! :)

I've never had a Nintendo system crap out on me (I also have a launch Wii that's still going strong), but I guess it can happen to anyone.

If your DVD drive crapped on you i wouldve easily gave you $100 for it. I can make it work!

Kids, man. I've never had any system die on me either but my kids know that if they break them by screwing around they probably won't be replaced. They also know how much a Wii remote + motion plus + nunchuk costs. Most other kids I've seen couldn't give a damn and throw remotes around, knock over the consoles, handle cartridges/discs with no care, drop and throw portable systems around, etc. Some adults aren't much better and there are also the idiots who put the systems on carpet or enclosed in something with no chance of air circulation.

Same here. My launch day Wii did have one problem (documented here), but Nintendo fixed it for me for free, and it was back to me in less than a week from the day I shipped it to them. They overnighted the bitch both ways.

In the end, I had a couple regrets about sending it back, but it was a great experience overall (documented here).

My launch day Wii stopped reading discs. Like I said, they (Nintendo) told me $100 to repair, I paid shipping, and had to wait 4-5 weeks. I didn't even know the Wii played DVDs?

@Nick - My launch 360 RROD'd after about 6 months of use...and then again about a year later...and then again about 8 months after that. No clue what was going on? Sucks. The slim is sweet though, and it quiet as hell.

Anyway, I bought the data transfer cable for my old hard drive, transfered everything over, and brought it back to Game Stop for a full refund. They have a 7 day no questions asked return policy, so you could have all your 360s have all your save files if you really wanted.

It can with some homebrew stuff going.

My Elite is loud as shit, but only because I have an external fan on it. Crazy loud but keeps the damn thing cool.

Technically, but I see why he does it the way he does (since saves can and will change). It's be nice if someone makes an adapter to plug in an original 360 HDD into the slim.

Luckily for me, I never have to worry about ever having more than 1 of a system in more than one room ;)

Yeah I really hope someone makes these. I'd like to get a slim and have a 360 in a third room, but I need all of my 360s to take the same hard drive.

Don't you have two 360s now though?

When he said he sold his XBOX, I assumed maybe he meant the 360. And by "original," perhaps he meant his "first" 360 (since he now has the slim). And since he traded it in along with the Wii, he now only has the one.

No, I traded my 1st gen one (which is about to shit again -its showing the same symptoms the other 3 that RROD did) and got $60 for it. I looked on ebay, and thats about bare min these sell for still. Convenience was key ;)

Broken Wii - $80
(about to be broken) 360 - $60
