I have fixed several dozen G07s with sync issues. Despite what the troubleshooting flowchart shows, it has NEVER been IC501. The factory somtimes put in the wrong value resistors in the sync circuit. Check R314, R317 (the ones most often incorrect) and also R303, R306 (sometimes also wrong)...
Don't ask me how they worked all these years with the wrong resistors in there... they just did...
Probably because it was hooked up to positive sync. That issue only affects negative sync.
And that was one of the first things that was checked.
All the pots have been replaced.
I can not find any broken traces.
It's possible that there's a bad cap (I did replace them all, but I do know that caps can be bad right out of the box) and will check for that first before replacing the expensive IC. Waiting on an ESR meter. I think this one is most likely because the sync won't lock. It comes close, but never stops.
