a poll: "untested" G07 on its way to me - will it work or not?

I know alot of folks are going to say this thing's probably dead, but I have what was listed as an "untested" G07 on its way to me as we speak.

Thought we could do a little poll here on who thinks it might arrive working, versus those who think it will arrive............. unworking.

(wouldn't it be cool if it does work?)

I vote it will be dead but hoping it's working with issues.

I got lucky once and bought an untested chassis for about $20 shipped. All it needed was a capkit. :)

I guess it would depend on the circumstances of why they sold it. I've gotten a few chassis' that were pulled when an entire monitor was replaced due to burn-in, then the chassis sold. Turned out to work just fine, although I rebuilt it before relying on it...

Well it arrived yesterday, and it's missing the smaller fuse on the board, as well as one of the parts on the sides that is screwed on (need to look up the names, it's still early in the AM lol).

It came from a guy named Diego (eBay ID: arcade_pcbs) in Placentia CA.

If the part on the side is on the fuse side, then it is the voltage regulator (C1106). If it is on the flyback side, then it is the HOT (2SD870).

Make sure the label on the flyback sidewall says CBO if you are using it with a 19". Wouldn't be the first time someone shipped an FBO (13") chassis because they didn't know the difference...

It's definitely a CBO. I actually have a posting out in the For Sale section for a trade of this one and another non-working for 1 good one. Sadly I think these repairs are above an old guy like me..

That happened to me. Bought a 19K4915 chassis, received a 13K49xx (std res). Seller made good, but really didn't know the difference.

On the other hand, I bought my MK/MAME cabinet with a dead 25K7517 and no PCB for $75. Started poking around and found a blown main fuse on the monitor. Then a bad starter in the marguee light. You can imagine my happiness when I replaced the fuse/starter and the monitor and light came to life. Best $1.29 I've ever spent.

I'm going to say Working, but will blow up about 24 hours after you power it up.

Edit: Shit just saw I was wrong. Oh well, another strike against the optimist.

After 30 years folks....EVERY GO7 deserves a cap kit, a new flyback, reheated video input pins, and a new Horizontal width coil! Then it can give you ANOTHER 30 years service! :) Todd from TNT Amusements

That G07 still doesn't work properly. It's got a sync issue. I stopped working on it a little while back. I suspect IC501 might be bad.

I have fixed several dozen G07s with sync issues. Despite what the troubleshooting flowchart shows, it has NEVER been IC501. The factory somtimes put in the wrong value resistors in the sync circuit. Check R314, R317 (the ones most often incorrect) and also R303, R306 (sometimes also wrong)...

Don't ask me how they worked all these years with the wrong resistors in there... they just did...
