I see all these posts about the Mario Bros. Wide Body cabinets, and how coveted they are... but I haven't seen much (if anything) mentioning Mario Bros. in a "standard" Nintendo cabinet. How come?
Is one rarer than the other? By what I've been reading, the WB is more rare, but those are the only ones I've read about (that I know of) on here, so it naturally leads me to believe that few (if any) people posting here have the "standard" body Mario Bros.

So, what's the story?

There is no "standard" Mario Bros cabinet.
The Marios in the DK style cabinets are conversions (as far as I've ever know at least) and not dedicated/original machines like the WBs are. They started their "lives" as something else besides a Mario Bros. and were converted by an OP.

Hope that clears it up.

Good luck.

The wide body was the factory released cabinet for Mario Bros. The "narrow"/"standard" one is a kit for DK, DK Jr., and Popeye cabs. Most collectors only want the original, not a kit. The factory machine was made wider due to the fact that the game can be played simultaneously by 2 players. Game play is tight for 2 guys on a standard DK cab conversion.

So....

Original (DK Style) red cabinet.
No side art. (doesn't appear to have ever had any)
Good condition all around - good video, good audio, cabinet in good shape, good artwork.
Original manual and schematics.
Coin mechs installed, but unsure of functionality.

I think it may be worth the drive.

Yeah. Try to find out the serial number.
