we had the balls to actually put Journey and Discs and Wacko in the arcade but no one played them ($.50 to $3 a week on each) so out they went.
For those of you who are all-home-use and don't operate your games at all, I want to highlight what this gentleman just said. This is the reality of it. There are a lot of games that look great and draw cred from the hardcores but not a damned person ever plays them. These are ideal for your rumpus room or garage. Fighting games, for all they are disparaged (at times) here, earn well. Arcade classics in some cases have enough universal appeal that they still earn.
Using off-the-cuff numbers, here is every game we have operated at Desert Sky Games in Gilbert, AZ since we opened in August (all at 25c/play):
Vertical 60-1 - picking it up tomorrow, we'll see
Street Fighter II Turbo - earns well
Marvel vs Capcom 2 - earns very well
Rampage World Tour - earns very well
Neo Geo MVS - earns well
Super Puzzle Fighter II - earns moderate
TRON - earns moderate
Star Wars - not much
Mortal Kombat II - earns moderate (sold)
Mortal Kombat 4 - earns moderate (sold)
SVC Chaos - earns moderate (sold)
Black Tiger - not much (sold) - a big disappointment for me because I love this game
X-Men vs Street Fighter - earns moderate (converted out)
Relief Pitcher - not much (converted out)
Stadium Hero - not much (converted out)
Yie-Ar Kung Fu - not much (kept PCB + marquee; searching for original cab to restore)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 - N/A (keeping PCB for a Capcom Big Blue cab if we can snag one)
That's how it goes...
