So here we go. This is my first major restoration, so expect gaps in progress as I figure out how to proceed. Foremost, this is going to hopefully be a RESTORATION, not a repro. I know it'd be easier to strip the cab, for instance, and get new artwork, but that's not the point. I (with help from my wife Petra and 6yr old son Marius) are painstakingly removing the black paint bit by bit and cleaning her up.
To start with, this cab came home with me as part of a lot buy off Craigslist. At first I didn't even know what it was. Opening it up, there wasn't much left. I started with a cabinet, hacked up CP, the original power supply and some wiring (coin doors, switches, marquee & speakers).
This left me with a long list of stuff to acquire. Namely:
-PCB (have)
-ARII board (have)
-Control panel -NEED
-Marquee pieces (glass & overlay) -NEED
-Wiring harness (have)
-Bezel -NEED
-Monitor (possibly have one, will see after I rebuild a old chassis)
Nasty black paint...fortunately they used latex, and didn't sand it or use an aggressive primer, so it's coming off fairly easily.
CP is hacked to hell, full of holes. I guess it's possibly to restore this one, but I don't have a welder, and getting a new CP is probably the best bet regardless. Oh, and look at the gigantic monitor they crammed in there. You couldn't put a back panel on if you wanted, the frame sticks out of the back!
And finally...what a hot mess. Still...I think she can be saved...
