A Mansion = Plenty of room for games

Dude, all it needs is a little bondo and some new t-molding!

Nah... it's probably just a fuse or a light bulb.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Anyway. I've always thought it would be nice to have a mansion with a wing dedicated to each major generation of games.... maybe each wing would have a room dedicated to each manufacturer

Thanx for sharing the pix! Very cool....

I love before and after pix with old buildings like that. If anybody is interested here is a site about Detroit buildings form years ago with alot of before and after pix..very interesting. One of the buildings featured is the Michigan Central Depot which was in the beginning of the movie Four Brothers.

It is an amazing story behind the place - again the quick story I wrote up here is the NICE version - there are many twists and turns that I didnt include...

It is a sad thing - 30 years is 30 years but that wasnt really THAT long ago. It's sad that this building was at one time so beautiful and was destroyed by vandals. The property itself (location) is amazing... it is absolutely gorgeous. I have a key to the main gate and my wife and I like to go up there every once in a while just to get away.
I can't help but think - with a place SOOOO big - boy could I have a massive arcade room. It would be incredible.

As it is - I have thought it would make an excellent Haunted House for Halloween time... I know there is a lot of cost involved - but that local Haunted Houses rake in some serious serious money around the Holiday. Right now - its very difficult to keep trespassers out - they all want to look - so can you imagine if they could pay to come and see it and be scared in the meantime! It would be one of the greatest Haunted Houses around... not something made out of a bunch of plywood - but an actual Haunted House! Just a thought.

Yeah, I went in there. All I found was this little piece of paper . . .

Now how cool would that be to build a house that looks like a giant arcade game. Would have to be a cockpit game unless you are building a 5 story building. :p

UPDATE: Happened to stop and visit this location (since our anniversary is quickly approaching) and took a few more pics that I thought I would share...
Again... there is a TON of room in here - makes you wonder what kind of wicked cool arcade you could have in a place this size

Damn. And my fiance says our house is too big of a project house. That would be a sweet house to have but the restoration and upkeep would be unreal.

I cant even begin to imagine the cost of restoring something that big

bumping an old post-

I wonder if it might cost less to build a new replica with modern techniques than restore that. Not saying that's better, I'd like to see a building like this saved, the history and pics are fascinating, but the before and afters are kinda depressing. It's always a shame to see something that was once a magnificent structure reduced to ruins. The 1st step in preservation would be replacing the roof and stabilizing that and any water damage to the top of the building. That alone would cost an arm and a leg.

Completely true.

This is one of the buildings on the campus of where I work...

A couple years ago the roof (in back) caved in...

They're STILL working on repairing everything/water damage, etc... not only is it expensive, but it's not a short project.

They're also working on restoring this old theater from the 1800s...

Because of my current job I've been lucky enough to go inside all the old historic buildings here & it would be a shame if they were left to collapse.

Sorry for the threadjack!
