A little guide about the fundamentals of arcade collection
A few years ago I thought arcade machines were $3000, and terribly complex beasts. Someone corrected me and let me know that I could own my favorite game of all time (NBA Jam) for a mere $200 to $500. From there I found KLOV and the great knowledge base of information all KLOV members so selflessly put into these forums, and a short while later I had my very own NBA Jam machine.
Without the users and posts in these forums, I probably wouldn't have ever seriously considered buying my own arcade machine, and that would have been a shame b/c I've wanted one since I first saw NBA Jam and played it at the age of 12.
For a long while I've intended to distill the basic things I learned from KLOV and my own experiences in collecting my first few machines, and I've finally done that. I put together a blog post about the basic ins and outs as I understand them thus far, and I'd appreciate any feedback on things I'm completely wrong about.
I hope the post will help someone else out there who, like me a few years back, didn't know how inexpensive and easy owning a favorite game from the past can be.
