Survival, Is actually a survival horror type live action choose your own adventure game but I figured laserdisk would catch more attention.

I made this about 7 years ago with a friend of mine. Yes, thats me in the intro. Andrew is my middle name and I go by Andy to alot of folks. Anyways, enjoy our Cheesy Live Action type game.

If you have a slow connection the video can take a few seconds to load between choices but only the first time you play. Be sure to fullscreen your window as the game will strech with your browser.. at least it does on mine.

16 Possible Endings, Only 1 is the winning ending.. Link Removed due to new version coming!

See this thread for new version information: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?p=1800124#post1800124

Enjoy.. and try not to laugh too hard at our efforts.. :)

Nice effort, good to see others into the 'choose your own' laser-type games. Around 1999 I had talked with some of the dragons-lair-project guys into shooting some scenes for a home-brew laser game. This stuff would be shot during CGE in the Palms Las Vegas hotel. It was all discussion and would have been done entirely guerrilla-style shooting. Not sure how long that would have lasted with security and the hotel not approving it but glad to see someone else executing a similar concept.

ALG would be proud of your accomplishments.

very cool for what it is. Would love something slightly more 80's Laser style where you had to choose up down left right or action of some kind to determine the direction of the story. I know that would be a shit ton of work though shooting and editing footage just to make a few simple sequences let alone an entire game.

Was kicking around the idea with a friend of making a modern laser game (actually hard drive) that like cliff hanger utilized existing animated sequences cut together to create a new story line and game. That idea has sort of fizzled though and I doubt it will happen. Still think it's a good idea though.

Yeah, we did this in one day and all on a whim just to see if we could pull off the mechanics behind it. It worked out pretty good I thought. We actually wrote a very elaborate script for a second episode. It would of been so much better but we just didn't find the time to shoot it. I spoke to some friends last night and we are thinking of doing another simplistic one like this one. Something in a single location and can be shot in one day. There really was alot of shooting and editing that went into this..

So has anyone actually beaten this yet? Found the correct path?

Cheesy, the good kind of cheesy. I like it. I got shot, then I got stabbed.

For the next one, I suggest that there be at least one scantily clad cheerleader type girl being chased through a swamp or forest by an axe wielding maniac. Wow! I just described 50 horror movies at one time.

Yes, and our next episode.. I can't say what the plot is that we are working on, but I can say that it will have a nice looking actress involved. We already got her secured. We are planning our shoot for next Friday and she is totally on board.

Then I suggest a topless scene. All good movies of theat genre have at least one. ;)

Somebody needs to make a porn like this! :D

You know in theory anyway if one wanted to make a laser disc game for real, all they'd have to do is map out all the choice-to-scene index of a game like Dragon's Lair and substitute those scenes with a disc or device of their own video at those addresses. Obviously that would be a TON of work, but possible, the games don't know or care what's at each address other than it's supposed to play it when given a specific circumstance.

I tried several directions, no matter how I went to the garage, in the garage, I'd get killed. Fun concept though.

As for Pr0n, I recall "Seymore Butts" having an interactive DVD back in 1994. This was during the authored CDROM craze.

16 endings.. only 1 is the correct path.

My favorite death btw is the christmas lights.. lol.. I laugh everytime I see it. (sneak into garage with knife, then go right)

Played it... picked "Grab a Knife" then it froze up or got really laggy.... Shame cause I like it a lot. At least what I've seen of it.

Would be good as a DVD game... the menu system can be ported to a DVD very easily. I've done a few for family members. :D

Just finished it.... funny ending.
Liked the credits at the end re: Sounddogs.
Must say I share your sentiment, they're a great resource even when you have zero budget. :D

Props to you for cutting it in Vegas. What camera did you shoot it with back then? I don't recall seeing it in the credits.

Dang, I got killed in the garage. Great cheesy game. :)

Yeah, my flash building skills are not the best. I don't know how to input a buffer system but that is basically the reason for lock ups in the video.

Hey..if you decide to get a bit more technical.. shoot the scenes against a green screen. then you can add whatever backround is needed. It would be cool to see how your game plays on the Sega hologram setup.

Finished it in less than 5 minutes... Played a game, went to check out garage, stormed garage, went right, Killed intruder, called my girl and her sister to get laid..

Cool game though, great Idea

Well I've tried just about every option I think... and the correct option I'd wager is "Stop Playing" in small text under the other choices, cause everything else gets me killed :p

Seriously though think about making a DVD game... No needing to buffer there and you could sell them retail for a few dollars and have a game empire. :)

I found myself fast forwarding through the scenes to get to the moves I hadn't yet done. Thank God for the skip feature or I would never have pushed through it. I had hoped there was a skip feature allowing me to just get to the damn garage so sitting through that was a little tiring for me.

Still, I think for what it is, and the time you put into it, it does what it needs to do.

My suggestion if you're seriously thinking of putting this into the market. Get yourself some newer (or rent) some production gear that's HD, light it properly, get a field sound mixer, some talent, and really push hard with some scripted stories. The concept could go somewhere, just need a polished piece to bring to market.

One thought for what its worth (I hate writing FWIW)... would be to make it more like Dragon's Lair, and less like a Choose your own. Maybe a hybrid of both. Meaning...the dude gets off the phone and gets up, starts walking... the kitchen door flashes, or the game controller flashes in the same scene. You don't have much time to choose. At that point it becomes the 'twitch' dragon's lair type game but also makes you decide faster. If you fail to decide properly then the guy slips and falls, breaks his neck. The thread of dying is more than just the bad guy in the garage (who we never find out who that is by the way). There are dangers everywhere in the house.... death scenes could be pretty funny incorporating things for him to die by accident.

Anyway....maybe the hybrid concept is more like Thayer's Quest where you have choices, but also have the twitch concept.

If you choose to go forth with doing another, those are just some of my thoughts.

Good luck.
