My Tempest that I just scored last night has a Shinobi JAMMA set-up in it. The thing is, I'm only seeing one "component" edge connector on the end, don't see anything like a vid cable anywhere. There are wires rigged up to the monitor in it, but I haven't gotten to trace them yet to see if they lead to the edge connector or not.

My question is, in a JAMMA set-up, do all of the wires for the vid etc all go into ONE connector? Or should there be a second one for video somewhere that I'm not seeing? This stuff is all-new to me.

Thanks!

First off, Shinobi is not JAMMA, but Sega System 16. The sequel - Shadow Dancer - was JAMMA.

Second, JAMMA video wiring comes off of the main edge connector...

Thanks mode, I could swear the board reads "Shinobi" on it. Are you telling me that there's something like a stripped Genesis console sitting in my cabinet?

the board may read 'shinobi', but how are you verifying that it is Jamma? as Mod said, Shinobi is Sega16..

Unfortunately, I 'assumed' (and we all know what happens when you do that) that since it's wired into my Tempest cab, and it's wired to a switcher (at least it looks like it is), that it was probably a JAMMA board. It's a 2-tiered board, I can snap more pics if needed.

I was just going to see if I could get the thing working while I'm planning my attack on the Tempest resto, and the monitor powers up but it's just got lines through it.

shinobi is indeed a sega 16. i own the pcb of it and run it in my jamma cabinet with a converter attached.

To answer your main question.....
Yes, on Jamma all the wires come off one harness/connector
Thats why its easy to just replace one board with another, or use a switcher. Modessitt included a pin out for standard Jamma. There are some variations IIRC Jamma+ has extra connections for additional buttons, some of the multiBoards use a different connection/pinout for the speakers. The taitoclassics board uses the Tilt connection for a "menu" button, etc.
And, after checking the Shinobi pinout it also has all the wires come off one connector, but they are a different layout from Jamma.

My question is, in a JAMMA set-up, do all of the wires for the vid etc all go into ONE connector? Or should there be a second one for video somewhere that I'm not seeing?

Here is the pinout for Shinobi: & Here is the pinout for JAMMA:
