Congrats! If you didn't shock the crap out of yourself then you did better than me my first time. :D

Way to go!

As you do more, you'll discover the many cap kit emotions.
Here are just a few:
Happiness - My monitor looked like crap, and now it looks great!
Puzzlement - My monitor looks exactly the same as it did before I capped it!
Anger - My monitor was at least working before I capped it, now it's totally busted!

I've been lucky so far and haven't experienced the third.

is it just the angle of the pic, or does the monitor board look cracked at the flyback?

Congrats on the caps, just a little adivce, if you ever work on a GO7, when the small fuse blows, the big cap next to it will stay juiced up for a long time...

Congratulations dude! Don't sell yourself short on this stuff... just because some people have done it a million times doesn't lessen your accomplishment!

I remember when I did my first cap kit I had to discharge the monitor. Everything I had read stressed how dangerous it was and there was a loud pop and such. So when I finally got ready to discharge it, I had this huge work glove on holding the grounded screwdriver, the other hand WAY behind me and had a stance much like a fencer. I had the wife standing by to call 911 and I finally steeled myself for the horrifying noise I was about to experience! What really happened? There was a very tiny pop. I thought I had done it wrong and kept at it until I finally figured out that it wasn't as scary as I was led to believe. After that, I would just pop 'em and go. :)

Ah... memories!

Congrats man. I did my first one not too long ago on a K7000. Stupid me when I hooked it back up I had the sync pin connected wrong. turns out I had to move it up one pin LOL then bang i had the glorious beautiful picture of a freshly capped monitor. Nothing like it.

Enjoy the fresh monitor!

i looking forward to doing my dk cabaret, i just have to get my own soldering station. i was considering the aoyue 701a dual function station. anyone have it? thoughts?

Yeah, that's one thing I need to learn how to do. Esp. since the G07 in my cab went out :(
